flipper techniques?
« on: October 22, 2009, 08:05:08 PM »
Hey guys how do you use the flippers when you play? (dont say press the buttons lol) I use hand eye coordination and occasionly will capture the ball to hit a specific shot.

Ive seen my dad and older cousin play my CV recently and they keep the flips activated all the time to capture the ball then try hit certain shots. They grew up on pins so is this an ols school thing or what?

How do you guys play?

Bit like you, a combo of capture to shoot and direct flip reaction shots.

Take a look at the new Pinball 101 DVD, and  see how it should be done.

I use a combo of moves.
depends on the pin also.
some pins need you to hit targets and ramp shots in a combination of moves quickly so by holding the ball you will not be able to score big.
but with other pins you need to hold the ball and hit a target or ramp at a certain time, if you hit it too early or late then you need to do more work to acheive the same outcome.

Bit of both depending on what the rewards are. Much easier to line up a shot when the ball is stationary.

Well Cardini(Andrew) Closes one eye and gets down to ball level and lines up that PERFECT shot...Oh yeah and you need to tilt your head to one side and squint at the same time as well....

Ah - multiball technique is a good question. Do you try to trap balls during a multiball or not!

For me it depends on the game and what is required by it, but generally I will still try to trap a ball or two and actually shoot for something. For example, on the Cactus Jack's I will often try to shoot the left ramp continuously during multiball; but keeping both balls in play during a Cactus Jack's multiball is more important than trying to trap one or both of the balls as hitting the 'throw' shots during multiball really gets your score going.

I only use the MBP technique when ya have an influx of balls hurtling down @ the flippers........
All other techniques are still 100% useful, you just have to use them a lot quicker lol.
Other wise simply keeping balls alive during multiball is my main priority.
Nothing worse then a 3second multiball......
or worse still is the dreaded ball search during multiball......... aaaaaaaaagghhhhhh!!!!!

I find i use the bridging technique a lot on Revenge From Mars? Just seems to me that its built for it?
Or at least it works for me.
