Video & ? Ever or Recently played a BK2000 ?
« on: November 21, 2009, 02:16:59 AM »
After much talk and some photos of Beaky's Black Knight 2000,and a few games on Andrew's BK, I was lucky enough to secure one myself a few days ago. Thanks Mark for looking after me as usual.

Andrew had told me many times that BK2000 was a special pin, and i didnt see how, until i played it and saw the playfield lights combined with the music and audio bits. It must have been ahead of its time for a 1989 model. It just seems so unique.I thought i would never buy a pre 1990 pin but i soon changed my mind. What a light show this thing gives out.Youtube of someones below.

I am interested in hearing from any other members who have a BK2000/ or have played one, and what positives u have found with the machine or of any memories of playing one onsite back in its day.
Also, anyone got any reccommendations for machines around the late eighties that are worth looking at/adding to a collection ?

you have got to love this pin.
this pin used system 11 to its full capability..
also this pin had the first 'HURRY UP' feature.
This pin is the best pin of its era.
and the way the top playfield lifts for servicing is excellent.
it is so easy to get to the upper pf for servicing and cleaning.
and of course it was designed by Steve Ritchie

I have only had 3 balls on a BK2000. The sound blew me away for sure, its up there with the 90's games. The gameplay didnt rock me, so the other 2 balls were left for sum1 else to play.

Yeah, nice looking game for sure.  You could probably disable that lower left flipper and still kick it's arse though.

No way, u shld play Andrews, it is so dam fast. You really need to concentrate. Once the playfield was polished etc, this BK became lethally fast. The shots can be easy one second and very hard the next. The difficult part is doing various shots in various orders to move forward with the challenges. Thats the difficulty. Interesting for someone to rate an entire pinball machine off 1 ball only. Perhaps EB u should have played an extra ball.  %.%  %.%  %.%

No doubt it is fast. SR is the king of speed and flow.  However, you cant deny the game is heavily biased towards the right flipper.

I am not sure yet ? I have only played about 6 or 8 games on Andrews, so I cant really give a honest opinion about the right flipper yet but it does seem to be a common opinion with lots of guys on the internet pinball database's comments. In about 20 more games i will really know then i guess.
Andrew made his a 5 ball game so i could get a few extra balls out of it before his kids kicked me off.

But the right flipper thing aside, that music n light show seems to be good enough.
It seems like the only pin i could crank right up loud and enjoy the audio without it annoying the hell outta me.
Rod, what is SR ? (ok, Steve Ritchie, i get it now,doh !) You have a better knowledge than me, what is something system 11 which is a surprising pin to own/play like BK.
I really only know the titles i have mostly being 1990 forward.  !@#

As Damien mentioned, have a look at F14 Tomcat.  Ultra fast with an awesome light show.
