Backglass shipping options (Melb/Syd/Newc)
« on: November 28, 2009, 08:44:48 AM »
I was just advised that my new Gorgar Glass has arrived into Melbourne.
It will be well packed from Mayfair no doubt.

I am looking to get it up to the Hunter Valley but perhaps to Sydney may reduce the risk and I pick up from there.
Can anyone suggest a method that would be the lowest risk to either Sydney or Hunter Valley / Newcastle etc?

I have waited nearly 6 months and don't want to go through this again!

Ive shipped some 20 backglasses now.. to and from Brisbane. Each time ive used Couriers Please.. make sure you have Fragile stickers on them and arrows pointing upwards and the words DO NOT LAY FLAT TOP LOAD ONLY.
Even i stressed though with 2 off MINT KISS BG's...1 off MINT PLAYBOY... 1 off MINT BK2000...1 off MINT CAPT FANTASTIC... all arrived at their destination in perfect order and delivered by hand... i dont use anyone else

Pack 'n' Send is another option. I gather they will be more expensive, but they will also be more careful than the average courier company. Ask MarkC about them as he uses them to send stuff around the country.

In my business we have used Couriers Please and I have never had anything arrive damaged, but have had boxes arrive with holes and bruises and other general damage from being knocked about. Admittedly they did not have big warning messages on them about fragile, top load only and so on!

Hi J.D. . I used Pack N Send for my Lucky 7 backglass which Mark C bought over for me also from Mayfair . He dropped it off at their Boronia store for me . I had it sent to the office in Mayfield (right in the main street near Woolworths) . It was a bit cheaper than getting it sent to my door . I can't remember off-hand what it cost but I think it was about $170 or so .. !@# . They took real good care of it and even repackaged it a bit better at Boronia . Like you said the glass has made it this far . It would be a tragedy for something to happen to it on the final leg of the journey .
Cheers,
 Scott.

Not so long ago I helped a member here - Daniel ddstoys get a backgless from Sydney to Melbourne.  It was done normal post throught Australia post - cost was $17.50. It was packed in a BG box and arrived ok.  It was a pretty cheap 2nd hand  replacement glass so maybe not as critical or valuable as a new Gorgar glass?
