Gottlieb sys1 Score Displays
« on: April 25, 2010, 06:57:39 PM »
Hi

I have a Gottlieb Solar Ride Solid State sys1 and when it hasn't been on for a day or so the score displays take a while to light up. The credit display comes up straight away though. I read in the manual that the credit display runs on 42V where the score displays run on 60V. I have tried adjusting the 60V up a bit but it hasn't made any difference. Any suggestions?

This "recharging" tip works a tread with SYS1 Displays.

Its not a recharging thing as they display perfectly bright when they do work but just wont light up straight away.
I haven't actually timed it but its less than 30 minutes.

Still try the trick in the link.  Sometimes they can oxidise and this helps burn it off.  Otherwise, yes it bay be a power supply issue.  Bit I would try this first.  Is it all displays with same problem??

Could be dry solder joints in the power supply, these supplies run really hot and this can cause dry joints on the regulators and connector pin headers. Maybe try resoldering the power supply.. Also a good idea to replace the electrolytic capacitors while the power supply is pulled apart.

Cheers .. Mitch

Well that does sound like a power supply problem.  Check the bottom connector and right hand side connector on the power supply.  Check all solder joins.

Found it!

It was a loose solder joint where the 60V pin is soldered into the power supply board.
I wiggled the connector and the displays would flick on and off.
Thanks all for your help
