Pinballs in films
« on: June 23, 2010, 07:23:21 PM »
There was  a link posted a few weeks back naming pinballs in films... but ive just watched ( well a week ago) SHUTTER ISLAND with Leonardo Di Crapio.... ( my wife got it out OK?).
Film is set in 1954... theres a GTB woodrail in the film, couldnt get a good shot of it so not sure what the game was.. anyone here know? I will add though that the machine had metal legs on.. these didnt come out on GTB till 1960, so i guess it was ALMOST right for 1954.
Anyone know the machine?? Its been bugging me!

there were two of those "koala" pins in that movie.. one was called (i think) Astrological, and the other Cosmic Venus. I read somewhere that they were custom made for the movie, dont quote me on that though, i could be wrong. I have the movie on vhs tape, unfortunately when i timer recorded the movie, some 15 yrs ago, (it was on as a late nite movie and i couldnt be there to start the tape.. band gig) i missed the start of the movie  @.@ @.@ maybe someone else here has the full movie???

Im not convinced they were fully functional machines anyway (just props) coz in some of the close up shots, you can clearly see in the close ups of the spinners, they have no switch wire going thru the PF to activate the scoring switch!!

that cooking/travel show on austar/foxtel called "Anthony Bourdain - No reservations" showed him playing a Pirates of the Carribean and a Lord of the Rings in Hong Kong just a few weeks a go in a cafe/foodbar.

I think Hong Kong has alot of pinball places.  ^^^
