BALLY SAY IT AGAIN
« on: July 27, 2010, 10:29:23 PM »
Anyone here versed on the Bally "Say It Again" board??

I have a game that has this board installed in conjunction with the Squawk and Talk board.
Say It Again board gives a very irritating high pitched hum, so will be taking this off and replacing caps etc.
The game still has all sounds without this board connected to the speakers, sound is just a little quieter thats all. So im wondering what the purpose of the SIT board is.. seems to me that mine is only acting as a complicated amplifier, but im guessing that this is far too simple an assumption.

Anyone know the ins and outs of this board??

The SIA board is a reverb board that gives an echo effect to the sounds.

SAD4096 chip is prone to failure.

Thanks guys,

The connector to the SAT board was missing a ground.. have made a new connector, but this still has not fixed the whistle.
The grounding on these 2 boards is very suspect... once again piss poor design... it leads to all sorts of interferance, i can change the tone of the whistle by placing a finger on  a cap and also change the level of noise through the speakers by moving connector wires.
The original cables were braided and run to ground... might be worth putting some ferrite rings in line

Gav - Is the ground to the two boards and speaker common ? Sounds simple, but it could be possible that one of the three are "floating" ?

Try another speaker ? The ferrite rings sounds like a good idea.
