This morning I got my Street Fighter 2 fully working (flipper rebuild etc) and spent far too much time playing it. Thing is several pinball websites reckon this is a crap game, they also say that about my Austin Powers machine......Ive read that the "Popeye" machine is also considered a dog and have played that one too and thought it was pretty good. I think Im onto something here....I'll just search for games that websites reckon are crap cos to me they will be pretty good. Oddly...Ive played a couple of machines most consider "top tier" pinnys and wouldnt give them house room.

Horses for courses - if you like it, then keep enjoying it!! I don't mind SF2, not a great game, but fun, interesting shots, overall decent fun. And the board set is super reliable. I think the more you play and the greater range of games you get under your belt, the more some of the "Top 10" type games start to appeal. But there's a heck of a lot of decent games that don't get a lot of love for different reasons. And some "weaker" games get discovered mostly because (I think) we're looking harder at old titles because of the lack of new stuff. Glad you managed to turn what was a bit of a disaster deal into some fun - good on you for sticking at it Douggie!!

Top work duggie never played a sf2 but I always decide for myself my biggest stories was twilight zone everyone raves about it by I didn't enjoy it much at all as pinnies4me said each to there own

Thanks, it was a lot of work getting the flippers working well, one had been assembled wrong originally which threw me a bit (sleeve in backwards) and the other had the EOS swtich wired wrong causing it and the coil to burn out. I can't belive how much difference a few rubs of "Millwax" made either. Got the Fish Tales pretty much sorted too, all done mechanically and electronically, the waterlogged cabinet I was too lazy to strip and do properly, me and a mate spent the weeked with about a megalitre of PVA woodglue, some scrap wood inside the cabinet edges and big sash clamps and it now all looks pretty straight and the lockbar now actually locks (cabinet was so twisted before it wouldnt sit right) got rid of the bricks underneath holding it up too which pleased the missus (its in the lounge)...I reckon it will be ok as long as I dont move it around too much.

Yeah mate Ive never played a twighlight zone, but had shot of a lord of the rings which looked too serious and gloomy for me, I thought it was a cross between hairy potter and dungeons and dragons

sounds like a lot of effort and dedication has led to you finally enjoying your games. SFII is not a bad machine at all, it gets a bad rep because of its theme.

once in a while cabs come up for sale from parted out pins, I'm sure Mark.c has sold a few.
just keep your eye out or send a request to mark to let you know when he has one then just redecal it and transfer the gear over and you will be right.

Well done Douggie. Glad you are having fun.

I am the first to come to the rescue of POPEYE. Williams widebody, two x playfields. Many missions. Excellent fun machine. Challenging also. A great pin.
If people can get past the cartoon bit, Its a great pin. Put it this way, I have never had someone play my Popeye, and say a bad word about it. In fact, alot of people have said the machine was a big surprise, and a bargain for what you can find a really nice one for.

Never played a Street Fighter, but I love the Backglass art on that machine.  ^^^

Glad to see you fixed them up dougie,havent tried streetfighter but i will have to try it,you might like the x-files it's a pin that cops a bagging on the net.but is a good player with stacks of features. anyway enjoy mate ^^^
