Bally Playboy on Ebay
« on: September 19, 2010, 08:51:16 PM »
No interest in this one yet.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Bally-Playboy-Pinball-Machine-1978-Awesome-Fun-/270633345347?pt=AU_CoinOp&hash=item3f03012143

Is someone waiting for a last minute bid?
Some rough bits but nothing that can't be fixed.

I saw one of these machines 2 years ago, and it was in an AMAZING condition, unlike this one.

When u find a 1978 Playboy in excellent condition, it is an amazing machine to look at, espescially the bright pink which funnily enough is a great colour for a pinball machine.

Perhaps someone can bring this one back to life with a full resto cause it will definately need it.

Is it worth $2800 ? - I would ask Strangeways-Nino his opinion before I would part with my hard earnt $.  !@#

Two project Playboys (one with a cab already repainted) sold for around the $3400 mark on eBay about 4-6 weeks ago. In this auction, it is clearly stated that the machine was bought as a project, and no work was done on the game (to retain its character). So it is STILL a project.

Playfield has a massive amount of wear and has been touched up in MANY places. Would require a resto or replacement.

Cabinet needs a repaint

Electronics shows signs of attempted repairs (look at the BR mounted on the backbox). Displays look faulty and overdriven.

Backglass looks to be in great shape

No bids as it is overpriced. The pictures show the condition of the machine - it is still a project and I would think it would not be worth anything over $1800.

If you have a repro playfield lying around, then it would be worth persuing. But not at $2800.

I will be restoring my Playboy soon - with repro playfield and cabinet repaint.

New boards,
PF restore and CC
 Full cab repaint

Add to this any other issues on the way... few displays?? Couple of coils? hacks on connectors?? New bumpers...new plastics??

All this work... an it IS a lot of work to double your money on $2800 possibly??

mmmmmmmm..... not really a profit margin is it?
