Back glass from the US
« on: February 24, 2011, 10:47:48 AM »
Hi

I found a really nice backglass that I have been chasing for a while in the US. It said pick up only but after talking with the seller he said that he would be prepared to ship it, to help me out. He asked me if I had any ideas for packing it. My questions are:
1-Does anyone have any ideas for packing?
2-Has anyone shipped a backglass from US and if so was it a good or bad experience...is it worth the risk?
3-Aprox shipping costs/shippers?

All help greatly apprechiated...thanks

I bought one a few years ago. Shipping was more than the glass itself, but it was packed in a custom made plywood box with form fitting foam cut about 3 cm thick all around. Arrived safely, but opening the box was not an experience I enjoyed until I saw it was all good. I paid for insurance and also extended the cover to cover the cost of the shipping itself so if it did break I would not be out of pocket.

I recieved a backglass wrapped in bubble wrap, put in a box, then that put in another box filled with foam, and fragile written on the box. arrived in one piece.
