Pinball Coil Plunger
« on: March 27, 2011, 01:17:50 AM »
When I acquired my Williams the Getaway off e-bay two years ago I found sum interesting things when I went under the playfield. For sum reason the previous owner lubricated the flipper coil plungers,,, a big No No.  ^&^  I pulled down all three flippers with new linkages, plungers, plunger stops, plunger sleeves, retune springs and switches. I found the old flipper parts where caked in grease, its amazing how flippers still worked.

Here is sum before and after picks.

Don't you love it when people do dodgy stuff like that.
My Trident had a flipper coil on the slingshot and it too was all greased up.

Typical of operators to lubricate worn parts rather than replace them. Always a good idea to replace the old flipper parts with full flipper kits when they look that ugly !

Nice work !

Unbelievable what some people do   @.@
As for the coil, there is no reason to replace it unless it is the incorrect rating, coils usually work or they dont work, they do not ever slow down etc. I'm sure when you rebuild the flippers with new coil sleeves and links etc, your flippers will be snappy as new  *%*

No, havent had eney problems since the flipper rebuild..  The previous owner certainly was a backyard pinball fixer  !!@ There was a few small issues with my Getaway when I received it  but she is fine tuned now...... @@*
