transport company
« on: May 10, 2011, 06:44:15 PM »
Have any members had any pins shipped by a company called Transdirect.I do not know if it just me,but i always have trouble when i get an item delivered by a transport company. The seller did a great job pallet packing the machine and sent me photos ect of this done.Machine was picked up in Melbourne last wednesday and was scanned at Sydney depot at 6.30 am Thursday morning, alls good so far, then it was scanned at 3pm that afternoon at another Sydney depot.I live in the Wollongong area so i thought i had better have Friday off work to make sure i am here to help unload it.After waiting around all day no pin,so i rang them late to see whats happening, their reply was we do not no where it is.I ring them again Monday morning and it is the same, we have checked with Sydney and Wollongong and they both do not have it,we are trying to find it and will call you in the afternoon,no phone call comes,so i ring them again and get the same old reply we cannot find it.I ring again this morning  ^&( and still nothing,so back on the phone late today and we are still trying to track where it is.They ring me back and say we have checked again and Sydney and Wollongong do not have it,by this time i am starting to get pissed off  !*!.About an hour later i get a call from them saying it has been in Wollongong depot for 2 days but they would not deliver it because the driver wanted confirmation that he would have someone there to give him a hand to unload at my end.The company has my home and mobile numbers,so this is very poor sevice from a company i will never deal with again.I know one thing i will be going over the machine checking for any damage before i sign off on the delivery.

There are a few companies that don't "deliberately" make mistakes, but their service leaves a lot to be desired. In many cases, a big company will often sub out a smaller, local company to pick up and deliver to their depot. The machine then sits there for weeks until loaded into the big truck. I ALWAYS ask for a tail lift or ramp AND two blokes to load the machine(s). I've had a 75 year old bloke turn up with a ute (no tail lift) and expected me to load it for him. I sent him away after taking the afternoon off waiting for him. Other companies schedule pickup and don't turn up. A recent pickup (to Adelaide from Melbourne) told me "we don't pick up after 2:00 PM". To make matters worse, the company asked me to "leave the game on the verandah", and they will pick up "during the day". I told the transport company "I don't have a verandah, it has been raining for 3 days in a row and I won't leave it outside without the buyer's consent". I then didn't hear a WORD from them for a week !

I used to use "Alladin's on the move", as the owner is a collector and his guys look after the games. The owner retired and then got bored, so he started up "The Overlanders" and I've used them a few times. No problems - they send out the ACTUAL truck doing the run, with a ramp and at least one helper.

I'm REALLY careful with my packing, as I find it hard to trust a game travelling in the back of a truck. I feel a lot better once I know the guys who pick up games regularly.

I have used Dutts transport a few times and found them to be great. We also use them for work at times and knowing the depot manager does help as well. I find I ring and let them know it is a pinball, jukebox etc and to treat it as fragile and mark it accordingly. Also some of the bigger distributers use them and get great rates which they pass on to me as well(and I am sure others if you ask). I had got pinballs from QLD to me for as little as $120 which is basically the rate for their regular customers. Either way I think they are at least worth a call to discuss.

I used transdirect to ship a backglass from Melbourne.
They did mess me around a bit but in the end it got delivered.
It eventually came on an Allied Express truck.

I have used Dutts transport for apx 6 or 7 pins and was very happy.

I have used e-go-transport as well and have been very happy.

There are 2 rules i stick to, so u dont get mucked around.

1. ALWAYS TAKE INSURANCE. The last pin it cost me $44 extra for insurance. I dont reckon pinballs get damaged to the point of being written off, its more that one of the forklift drivers might decide it will look better in his house than mine ! hence, insured for theft and damage. An absolute must i reckon.

2. I never ask the machine to be delivered to my house, I only book to the closest depot, cause you have to take time off work which costs money, and they can never guarrantee a day or time, and secondly, the more u move a pinball machine on and off trucks with a forklift, the more chances of damage. Also, u can inspect the machine at the depot, under their camera system, and if it is damaged, u can get it looked at and dealt with then and there. If  they drop it off to your house, the driver wont wait around, and they rarely want it signed for anyway. Food for thought.

Glad yours finally turned up . ^^^

After waiting for a phone call to confirm a delivery time, as usual with this mob nothing.I give them a call this afternoon,at this stage i am holding back from giving them a big blast but i keep cool and ask what is happening now.I get this response we have tried to contact the courier with no luck as they will not answer our phone calls.I tell them i am not ringing them any more and for them to only call me when they have a firm delivery time ect.About an hour later they call to say it will be getting delivered tomorrow but we will give you their phone number if you want to check.I give them a call and the response is we have had the machine since Monday and we refuse to deliver it as it is too dangerous as the legs are on the machine, what the hell are you on about i say,the legs are off and are strapped to the pallet. They say that they sent Transdirect emails to say they would not do the delivery for this reason.I tell them i will pick it up myself,so when i see the machine it is packed as in the pictures the seller sent me with the legs off and on the pallet. At this stage i could have really went off at them, but stuff it the machine is all good so lets just get home. After all the hassles i could not be any happier with this purchase,it is in great condition .This would be the best priced pin i have ever bought, playfied, cab everything looks very nice.As with any pin i buy my wife always has the first game and her words were I LOVE IT and this is my favourite out of all of them.
