Overseas payments made easy - it seems.
« on: November 10, 2011, 10:05:28 PM »
Guys,

I stumbled across an international money transfer site that seems to be cheap and relatively easy to use.  It is called Tranzfers.  First transaction is free and then after that they only cost $15.  In short, you transfer money to them via credit card, direct deposit or Bpay.  You have the option of deciding when the money is actually converted to the currency of choice and sent or you can just let them do it automatically at the current exchange rate as soon as your funds appear in their account.  Their exchange rates are better than the banks and the fee is about 1/2 the price of most banks.

I thought I would give it a go and so far it seems to be good.  This all came about due to the old issue of sending money to PBR for an order.

Anyone thinking of ordering in the future from PBR may be interested in this option.  I will let you know how it goes in a day or two once my funds have cleared with them and see how quickly PBR receives the payment after that.

I need to send US$1000 to Turkey... last time i sent $100 and Turkish W.U agent took a staggering 30% commission! So WU is out.
My bank is a real pain in the arse to transfer overseas, i never have ALL the information required it seems and when i do... well, it just doesnt seem to work  ^&^

This could be just what i need... thanks for posting!

I will definitely keep you posted on how it all goes.

Something else that was impressive in this day and age was that your account isn't activated until they get in contact with you, in person by phone and confirm ID and the like and then they activate the account.  Believe it or not, the guy that rang me was in Oz and could even speak fluent Aussie english.

Good info.

I think the Bpay side of it would be safer. The credit card part, with anyone on the net, is always a recipe for sleepless nights and a emptied bank account with the bank blaming everyone else etc. I just hate credit cards and the internet. Its like a toaster in the bath tub, they dont mix.lol (well not safely !)

Let us know how ya go.  ^^^

Just a quick update.  PBR received my payment without any problems.  The transfer took it's time but it got there in the end.
