Would you change a plastic apron for a metal one??

Aprons, plastic vs metal

Usually when people complain about current Stern games, one of the gripes is that they are missing the playfield support arms and the apron is plastic
I have an Ironman that came with said plastic apron, and I have never really noticed its plasticness during a game

So at this point I take moral stand and say ‘Stern made them that way, and that is the way it should be!’

But now I notice that Pinball life is selling metal aprons for Sterns, and I am tempted to get two (one for IM and one for Monopoly)

I actually like the new translucent ones used on the LE Transformers but I would change the others to metal if i had the plain black plastic.
You're right though, it doesn't seem to affect game play, it just feels a bit cheap.
I don't blame Stern though, just trying to save a few bucks so they can keep making pins.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has had a problem with the plastic ones cracking or breaking.

The plastic apron doesn't really bother me but if it did break I would replace it with a metal one for sure.

Hate the plastic and would be happy with metal ones any day.Cant understand why they change the support arm as they worked good and they are cheap.Cost me more in freight to get them sent to me than what they were worth.

I've never noticed it before!

obviously if the plastic one was to break than the metal one would be the replacement unless it stood out and didn't match the machine

Will retract my answer slightly... dont mind the translucent ones, especially if illuminated, but other than that... piffle to plastic aprons
