eBay is not the market price of a game.

Using the Terminator 3 I sold Wotto yesterday as an example, then as a seller, I would refer to the current ebay auction of a T3 for $4995. As a buyer, Wotto would look at the unshopped T3 that sold for under $3000.

Personally, I have never used eBay as a pricing guide as the majority of games listed by businesses are more of a marketing tool to keep the prices high. The bargains are always auctions with low starting prices, and if you are a buyer cashed up at that point in time, you compete with other buyers that are cashed up. visa versa when there's no spare cash to spend.

If you list a game in January - March, you will traditionally sell poorly, as people have spent their money on Christmas presents and holidays. List the same game in August - October, and you will sell for a better price, as the tax return money is usually spent on luxury items.

Going back to the IJ, I have a buyer looking for a restored machine and he fully expects to have a game worthy of the $4500 price tag. He can pay that NOW at any of the importer's inventory, but he wants the game done properly.

!@# !@# ebay auction or ebay For Sale listing ? 2 x different animals ofcourse. But i know what u mean. One is a buy it now ofcourse and one is a open auction starting at 99cents etc. the buy it now are always jacked to the max and overly inflated.

ofcourse ebay is not the start and stop of pricing a game but it certainly helps to give a "mood" for the present open market.   a unshopped game cant be compared to a professionally shopped game, and anyone expects to pay a grand plus extra for the later.

i think it is important that container pins are all not lumped into the same egg basket as being these machines that are clapped out with massive wear. an example Nino would be the containers u bring in. I dont believe u would bring in rubbish. my contacts are the same.
In QLD the people I deal with and the machines I have always bought are a cut above the rest. The large majority of the machines are so good infact, they all look Home Use Only and rarely need anything more than a globe and a rubber, if at all, and a wipe over with a wet cloth is about the majority of it. that has been the case with the last several machines I have bought, and at very low prices, and I got no favours done for me, that was the public open pricing. Maybe dealers have driven the prices up in melb ? someone has.

Perhaps the majority of the containers coming into melb are the bottom end of the euro stuff, i dont know, but it sounds like it from your feedback of some of the private importers.but only some of them. I think alot of people sell both projects and ready to play, with the price reflecting which is which. I agree, the old rule that you pay for quality is still alive in the pinny industry. ^^^

Cant stand it when people shill bill on ebay to jack their price up.

With so many pinball containers coming into Australia, the price will drop on some machines. But you still find a collector willing to pay a good price for that right machine in the right CONDITION.

Still got mine and one day she get a make over.

Yeah that one on ebay for $3300ish Cavey was definitely a shill bid job . He openly admitted on AA that he got his mate to shill bid it . Gave some excuse that ebay would not let him list it at more than $500  !@#  .

He wanted $4250 for it which I think was above value of the actual machine . The cab was faded and there was considerable wear behind the drop target bank .

Shill bidding really annoys me as it affects us all in the end . People illegaly pushing up the price of their pins leads people to start to believe that certain pins "must be worth that because the last one on ebay sold for $xxxx ".

I value my IJ at around the $5k mark . It's got newish cab decals , Treasure Cove decals on the inside walls of the cab , Path of Adventure LED kit , Lost plastic with Light board behind it , Jackpot light board ( under the DMD ) , all new plastics , Pinbits plastic protectors , and 100% led's on the playfield ( for inserts and GI ) .

If thats the case, that makes the market even slower if he could only get it to $3300 with mates bidding it up. A cliffy could have covered that area and for $750 incl decals, I could have had it fully redecalled professionally. The market is slow, so many pins available. Great when we all buy, shitty when we all sell. Welcome to a democratic capitalistic society. Nino is right, just before Xmas is the best time to sell any pinny, but not to close to xmas either.
