Auto Connectors????
« on: December 01, 2012, 01:58:05 AM »
Hey all,

Just wondering if the square/rectangular shaped white connectors on various power-supplies and loom-wiring are simply "Auto connectors" or are they known as something else, and a different standard??

I'm getting ready to build a few test cables and stuff, and wondered if the regular auto-shop connectors will fit?
These connectors can be anything from 2pin upto around 20pin, but typically 6, 9 or 12 pin on supply or rectifier boards....

thanx in advance...

I think you mean "Molex" plugs????

Like this type of thing:

Yeh, that's pretty much one of the connectors, although it can't be referred to as a 'molex connector' since Molex make several 1,000's of different style connector ;-)

That connector you linked to is from the "1292 series" although on the molex.com site, the 1292 only seems to cater for 9pins, maybe they dropped the range? (i remember them being available from 2 to 40pins long ago).
There's an alternate called the 'MLX power series' which are solid white (not translucent) but not exactly sure if they will mate to the existing board connectors correctly....

Just trying to find an exact series number to help hunt them down, there's quite a few variations in casing styles that will/won't allow them to mate with existing pinny connectors...

I've purchased some connectors from Great Plains,

They may have the one you are looking for.
