Using a A-16890 coil in place of A-9738 hold relay coil?
« on: December 19, 2012, 09:12:45 PM »
While I am cleaning up my Card Whiz I have been reading the EM repair guides online and found a mention in part 2 to using the A-16890 coil with diodes instead to stop the A-9738 Hold relay coil from overheating. Has anyone here tried this and can confirm it works?

I thinks its fairly common to use the coin lockout coil to do the same thing.
I think that is a A-16890 coil.

I've never felt a need to do this. The games I find usually have this coil burnt to a crisp. I replace the coil and ensure the contacts are clean and then it will last another 40 years.

I've also not found a need to do this with any of the dozen EM's I've had so far , but like Nino have replaced the hold coil in a few of them .
I did think about doing it ages ago though.
I need more room ! and more $$$
