Magic moment playing a game
« on: December 29, 2012, 08:55:27 PM »
Today we had friends over, with the kids and the boys (us men) having fun on the pins and we were playing against each other on each game and then split up and playing our own full game on a pin of our choice.

I was playing the Creech and what a magic game. I got the mutliball twice with one being on ball 2 which I found the girl fairly quickly with only 2 runs on the high ramp to the whirlpool with a score of about 85 million at the end of the 2nd ball. I then played the 3rd ball and wow what a ball - got the multiball again but just before it started I got the video game mode (punch up game) which was the 2nd time ever and then continued to get the high whirl pool ramp about 12 times, lost the ball twice but was able to save it by getting the snack bar for a restart both times and then found the girl and got the jackpot then lost both balls in about 10 seconds of achieving the jackpot (which was 169 million).

I ended up with a total of 382 million, which was a personal best. The gave me such a buzz reminiscent of when I first got the creech as it was my second pin but first working pin and still a great game which I don't play for periods and then love playing again. I was going to sell it but it is a challenging but fun game and then so rewarding as well.

What are you magic game moments........

Turning them off to play golf....priceless!
Hitting the fairways and greens reguarly is always special, and scoring way better than I have in months is superb. Smashing a driver like I did today to reach a 285m dog leg par 4 green in 1 shot is one of those omg moments and can not be beaten by anything else game related, making the putt for eagle just made it that much sweeter.

A magic game moment for me is when I go thru the menu system on a game and find various options that I hadnt even thought about turning on or off, or adjusting and then seeing things on the DMD that I hadnt heard or seen before.

Viper Night Drivin is a good example when I turned on the adult speech and the girl-hitch hiker who appears on the playfield is then in the back seat of the Dodge Viper getting hammered. Its like u are listening to a porno.lol  %.%  Apparently this option was requested by the European market back in 1999.

Another magic moment is when you update game code or Roms on any DMD machine and again experience the latest n greatest. Thats alot of fun.

Gottlieb Flying Carpet. When we were kids we played a new one at the milk bar on Cronulla Beach. Getting Special lit was hard work requiring lots of nudging skills but once lit, it was like cracker night with many free games popping up.

If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.

A few.......of late.

1) WH20 - finally...............

After owning WH20 for years I still had never achieved Vacation Jackpot ( the end of the game as such ) - and it was killing me.
The other week ( as reported ) I was having issues with the game where it kept cutting out, blanking DMD screen etc........which was annoying.
So a mate was over the other weekend and we were on it - I was having a damn good game but not really 'tracking' where I was up to.........after a long long ball I made a shot and the game shut down, screen went blank and I was INTENSELY P*SSED RIGHT OFF......thinking the game had died in the middle of a GREAT ball, then , the whoop whoop of Vacation Jackpot came on and I realised I had acheived that as opposed to game shut down.......THAT truly was a moment of 'magic' as I went from Captain Frustration Head to being full of joy 3 seconds later ( bit like in the bedroom  :lol )

2 ) Creech - is a LOVE HATE title for me.

LOVE the game but HATE the way the game just mentally destroys you time and time and time again with quick drains from all over the playfield.
Every now and then though you get ONE good game..............about 6 weeks back I got to Movie Madness, found the girl, rescued her, got jackpot and ( unbelievably ) got back to the bumpers and then scored SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER JAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKPOT ! Ended up on 594 Million which is a pretty decent score ......my previous best for a LONG time was 276 million and THAT was a rare score as well. I have since had LOADS of typical CREECH games scoring anywhere from 10 mill to 80 mill tops.

Cavey - I really must try VND when I see it somewhere next.
it was in Gameworks in Vegas a year or so back but broken, hopefully it is fixed and still there in April this year as it is a title I would love to try out and it is rarely seen.

great story on the pins, I had WH20 and never got the Vacation Jackpot and then the creech, it is tough game and normally I only get 2-3 runs in the top ramp to the pool ramp but 12 runs in a go got me the super jackpot of BIG points.

I love it when you get in the zone on a pinny.. my games are mainly EM so i dont get the deep games you guys get and so i concentrate on trying to clock the score.. some games like BINGO BANGO you have to lose 2 balls to advance the game play and so a good first ball is imperative... but the buzz on having the 5th ball on this game and its lit up like a beacon is unreal... big points at the top and i have achieved it possibly twice. Its a reverse flipper game so it messes with your head a bit.
CENTAUR.. a good game on this.. get first multiball at start by knocking down drops in order and you have the promise of a great game. Ive had some blinding games on this title and yet ive never to date managed to knock down all the drops in the captive ball on the LHS. Not sure anyone has got all these drops, but when the game sings with you its unreal.
Even Amazing Spiderman ( thanks Nick, if i sell it, it will be at a profit!).. managing to hit top centre target 3 times and then knock down RHS drops while bonuses are lit.. real buzz, simple games but designed to allow you to reach what seems easy only once or twice...classic stuff.
