Hi all
Been a while since I updated any info on our League but I thought I would do so - after we had Round 4 last night.
Some of you at AP know the players some of the SWPL League Players, so here is a look at the ladder.
http://home.kooee.com.au/brainsnap/ladder.htmThis small league is working quite well in my opinion.
Essentially they are the same as most 'meets' BUT, it definitely brings out the competitive edge in most players and also leads to some typical Aussie sledging throughout the night. One aspect that I have personally I have enjoyed watching some pinheads who didn't know each other well to start with grow into mates/ better mates through these league nights.
We are currently 4 rounds into 6 and due to the mix of games and how guys have played on each night , there are still ( I personally think ) around 6-8 of the 13 of us that are still a chance of making the finals ( to be held in May ). As an example I had good points in front of others for the first 3 rounds, yet last night I had a SHOCKER and although I remain in overall 2nd, and Bert who also had a shocker remains overall 3rd, the points gaps are closing as other players creep up on us.
So at this stage in our inaugural year the 'system' seems to be working well.
I hope that small local leagues like this can , over time, spring up in Melbourne and Adelaide - they are a lot of fun, and for some mild/fair effort from someone to start one up and run it I reckon the time is worth it. I hope our league can one day inspire others to start up ( sheeeesh I had better check the guys want to return for another year before stating thing like that hey
)
I again would like to publicly thank and acknowledge RTBB as one of our major sponsors
