Black Knight 1980
« on: January 31, 2013, 01:12:23 PM »
My Black Knight has been out of it for a while but when I switch it on I get no playfield lights and can't play a game at all. Any thoughts?

Jeff,

Just check all fuses first.

May be voltages from the power supply too. If I can dig up some docs to give you where to test with your multimeter I will email throuhh

Thank Marty,

Fuses are all ok so I was thinking of getting the connectors all redone as well.

I forgot to ask I assume you are getting lights behind the back glass?

also try turning the machine on then off then on quickly (only once) in case the machine has gone to default settings and the displays are not working.
if this is the case when you have turned the machine off then on again the insert lights on the playfield will do their attract mode dance but you will not be able to start the game until you put some credits up by activating the coin switch and then pressing the start button

If my pinball machine was "out of it" for a while, I would tell it no more drugs or alcohol, and I would send it off to rehab.lol (boom boom - the jokes on here just get worse everyday.lol  @.@ %.% @.@)

Between Marty or Beaky, u are in good hands. Beaky has a soft spot for all things Black Knight. The bastard beats me on BK2000 everytime by a mile. Anyone would think he played everyday for years when he wass a teenager.  *%* *%*

Jeff, take a few photos of your 80 model BK if u can, wouldnt mind seeing her in the flesh !  ^^^ Hope she is up n running soon.

Hey Jeff, fuses can test OK but not work in place. Could be worth swapping in new ones, this issue caught me out once - seems there was a batch of 5 amp slo blos that were faulty at one point.

Jeff - it could be the board connectors or the loom connectors themselves. It is worth checking both. Refit the connectors and report back !

I'm happy to take a look at the game for you if you are still having trouble.

Ha, wouldn't be playing up if it was a him. I'm sure she will be alive and kicking before too long. I am keeping an eye on this thread as BK is on my top 10 lists of all time greats.
If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
