Bally / WMS Cabinet Dimensions - Dimension Cross Checking

Hi All

RobM and I are working together to get some dimensions together for Bally / WMS cabinets for replacing certain parts. He has a heap of cabinets to repair and he has kindly offered dimensions with myself doing the drawing and dimensioning. I think his goal is to potentially provide flat packs. Once we do some cross checks of these dimensions I will draw up router files.

Note 1: these dimensions have not been proven so please check and issue feedback and then I can correct.
Note 2: these dimensions are for cabinets that have a mortise and tenon assembly not a 45degree butt joint.

Please, Please assist by cross checking if you have cabinets sitting around do a measure and let me know.


lastly I decided to place this thread in the mods as it is for people to repair their machines and can be easily found (maybe Nick or Nino can make it a sticky, as this seems to be the hidden info that not many people have or want to share).

Hopefully enjoy and watch to see if RobM's offers possible flat packs

Important Note: the attached files will have V1, V2 or higher, please use the higher numbers when checking like the shooter options as this is the more current.

Lastly I can't stress enough that the dimensions are to suit this assembly detail.



My goal for the pinball community is to draw up and make available metric and imperial drawings for the Bally / WMS cabinet for those that want it, as these images are screen shoots as it is much quicker. Only the cad file for routing will be shared with RobM at this stage unless he doesn't want the ball.

Please share dimensions and thoughts.

a few people have discovered a few small issues. I am trying to keep the design to the nearest inch measurement and then convert to mm hence the anal accuracy of my measurements.

If a few people could cross check the 2 bolts that sit at the back middle of the side cabinet view - distance from the bottom and the rear as getting a few odd dimensions and this is where the playfield pivoting mech is, so I want to get it right.

also can people have a look if they have their cabinets stripped and cross check the shooter assemblies as they all seem to have different centres from the rhs which doesn't seem logical but I haven't seen inside any of the cabinets apart from the manual plunger type.

a question was asked about the top of the cabinet for why there is a step down - basically the glass and SS fills this gap.

On some research and checking my 2 pins (creech and a modern Stern iron man both have the same joint method). But the joint system may need to be a little bit stronger, as reports state some strength issues at the front lip. Doing a 45 degree may have been a feature at one stage but the new sterns are doing the joint the same as the 90's Ballys. So I don't see a big issue changing, but could do a small test panel to do a test on strength of the joint with the lip thickened up a little more.
