Lethal Weapon 3 . What's it worth ?
« on: March 28, 2009, 03:05:23 PM »
I know this is a hard question to answer without any pics or info, but what dollar range would you expect to pay for one of these. !@#
I had a call about one for sale , I haven't checked it out but he said it works but needs a few globes. I'll post some pics when I go to check it out, also anything in particular to inspect carefully, ie. any known wear spots or faults with this type of machine.
thanks in advance.
Steve.

Hard to value without pictures. I guess if you play the game and all he features work, then you have a working machine to value. If it is "as is" and needs to be shopped - $1200 - $1400. Already reconditioned - $1800. A REALLY nice example - $2000 +.

I really don't rate the game that much, but I have heard of them going for less than $1200 "as is".

Plenty sold on eBay the last couple of years $1500 - $2200. I think $1000 and fully working would be a bargain, anything under $1500 would be good buying.

Quick update. Checked out the pin, plays but no playfield & backglass lights, 5A slo blo fuse blown in head box, swapped for 5A slo blo but blew instantly on power up. borrowed manual off seller & appears that it should be 8A slo blo, so maybe not all bad.
DMD all working plays game , sound OK. but needs a clean & rubbers ,new balls & tidy up.
I'll have a good read of the manual & Clays/Marvins data east guides & see what happens.
stay tuned. Steve.

Steve - GI is notorious on these pins but is a fairly easy fix to replace the connectors on the power supply. Clay's guide covers it quite nicely.

I ended up buying the Lethal weapon , happy with the price  #*# ,  it played but no lights & very dirty.
I read through Clays Guides & replaced the 2 burnt GI connectors & the dodgy fuse holders on the power supply board as Clay suggests . That sorted out the playfield lights as well as the lights in the headbox. Now it doesn't blow the fuse.  I'll post some pics soon. It needs rubbers & a drop target which is broken (I've ordered them from Greg).
Spent the afternoon on it & it seems like a fun game. Love the Multiball , bit different to my EM's.
EM guys don't worry I'm not switching to the DMD side. not yet anyway :lol My plan was always to have a DMD & an SS ( or maybe 2 or 3 or more SS's ) in the collection. As they say , you can't stop at one.

Good fun to play is it Steve?. When I was out hunting pins a few months back I saw one of these along with a couple of other DE but the one I saw had a blue police car beacon on top.

Yeah Jeff , This one has the base for the beacon , motor & light but not the rotating bit & the blue housing. I'll have to track one down as I reckon it'll light the shed up on multiball. :lol.
It is fun to play, next time you're up this way visiting the family, call in for some games & a beer.
cheers Steve.
