 ,yeah its all good,was pop bumper stuck...

can play a game on her now..but...still a few issues.

 on start up,the motor keeps running till i dis-engage the ax relay..but wait theres more #$#

then motor stops..then i have to advance stepper in back box 9 steps till it shows 1st ball....
then you can play a game normaly.....

 cant be much,just knowing where to look..

Download the GTB 70's start up sequence from Marvins guide in the 30's - 70's EM guide, this will give you a heads up on what triggers the AX relay etc

This is where you really need the schematics to see the relationship between the AX and Score motor. Yes - it will be a simple fix, but only with a schematic..

From memory AX is in the head.. Lets try something easy.. Unplug the game, disconnect the mains.. Disconnect the plugs from the head and clean them with a wire brush - just the "males" ends. Look for loose wires. Reconnect..

hey nino,yeah i think its the player unit...although theres a stepper in the front of the cab,witch selects players 1-4... #$#.

The player unit is the unit you are advancing manually ? I think the player unit is not being told to return to "home";

Here is the section in Clay's guide - point 7;

"On a 4-player game, the Player Unit in the backbox increments until it reaches the Z1 position. The Player Unit stops and the Z1 relay in the backbox energizes."


Did you clean the connectors ?

yeah connectors cleaned...checked p5a and p5b as per clays guide.

now when i start her..ax relay still stays on,and motor keeps running..but
she's at 1st ball,i dont have to advance player unit

tiny bit closer ,plays right through when i stop the ax relay,1-4plys, all good


tempted to take PF off again and go through main switch bank again #$#

Sounds like the game sat idle for 20 years, and by simply playing 20 games - it might come good..

See how you go after a few games..

Sounds like the game sat idle for 20 years, and by simply playing 20 games - it might come good..

AX is held on by a combination of BX, ball return, 1st ball relay, and replay unit (score motor) - This is from my Pioneer manual.

Check the "ball return" switch - is it constantly closed ?

There could be a misadjusted contact on the BX or replay unit... But I can't tell you what contacts are related on the replay unit..

Yep - When it closes, the AX switches on..

There's a switch on the BX that also keeps AX on - I can't tell without a schematic.
