Very nice Flash, is the back glass Original or repo,, looks nice.
The Red on my Flash has started flaking in spots, with a game of this age you have to expect it.
Here is a pick of my Flash..

Nice duo you have there. My backglass is original and yes the red is flaky but good considering the age.

Started my clean. Changed playfield lights to #47s as I want to minimise future yellowing due to the heat emitted by the #44s. All the rubbers are changed and the playfield was cleaned with Magic Eraser/Isocol and polished with Mill Wax. All chrome and metal was polised with Nu-Clean.
Fortunately there is minimal wear on this original playfield and all the plastics and gates are in good nick.

The cabinet was cleaned with Nifti and Chux. The original paint is in good nick and I have started to touch up minor scuffs and scratches (shown earlier) with and acrylic paint.

I still need to give the internals and electronics a good clean, these shots show the original 35 year uncleaned state.

The back glass is original and shows the typical flaking around the reds. I will leave this delicate restore last after I give some careful thought and research.

That's one of the better original Flash Games I've seen. Very nice, and a great player.

Next job is to work on the coin door, coin mechanism and coin box. I will try and keep every piece and part on this Flash (apart from rubbers and globes) original. The coin box has oxidised so much that you get a grey powdery residue on your hands every time you touch it. All these things are out of site but a proper restore should leave no stone unturned. Components are very dirty, some broken and scratched.

The coin return button and coin return door will also need a scrub/polish.

The coin box is a shocker to look at but is solid and tough, they don't make them like they used to. I tried different things and found Brasso and vinyl scrubber does the best job to remove the gunk and bring up a shine - there is a bright patch in the last photo where I scrubbed the crap off.
The operator card on the coin box had contact on it and is well preserved. I will revive it and stick it back on. Allens Amusements at Newtown no longer exists and was the oprator I bought Flash from in 1980. The Double Shute sticker has had it but I will reproduce one and put on the polished box.

The inernal coin mechanism will also be polished and revived so those 20c pieces will glide like silk. My girls can play Flash and save thier 20c coins at the same time.

Progress sofar:
Changed all old bulbs to 47s (roughly 120 globes). Touched up blemishes on cabinet. Cleaned inside cabinet and under playfield, coin door and mechanism.
Plugged in to see what happens after 30 years in storage. The GIs are all OK so the power appears to be OK. The MPU won't boot up and the 2 red LEDs are both constantly on without any blink so I suspect that the flipper ROM is cactus (on closer inspection I found 2 bad pins). I ordeed a new ROM from Ray Johnson in USA and hope that fill fix the issue.
The following photo shows the warm glow of the playfield GIs.
