Bally Corvette
« on: July 28, 2014, 11:15:16 PM »
Hi all , A  friend of mine has a Bally corvette. Problem is when using the left flipper the machine loses all power. Told him to stop using it  as there maybe a short somewhere. Can anybody shed any light on what the problem could be. Cheers.

I assume the game is rebooting which will be the 5V Capacitor and BR on the driver board.

As Strangeways said, it is a common problem with a failed/shorted BR (bridge rectifier).

Also you can check that the diodes on the left flipper coil are intact and have not broken loose from the solder or fallen off altogether. A lot of vibration in that area and missing/faulty diodes on coils can do weird things to a machine.

"loses all power"? or "reboots"? - which diagnosis is it?

Cheers Gibo , Thanks. Did he happen to show you the two corvettes he owns, hence the pinball machine.
