embosed drop targets

Has anyone tried restoring the embossing on old SS drop targets? If so what techniques were used? I have some thoughts but still haven't nutted out in my head possible problems with my ideas.

Obviously I don't have an embossing machine, but thought of repainting or maybe some kind of gold leaf and mylar process. Any ideas guys.

correct I'm crap with terminology. Any way is there a way of improving perfectly good targets that have the foil stuff worn away?

Try one of the gold pens that you can buy from some art stores or Office Works. Expensive - but might work as the DTs are hot stamped, but have a slight imprint that may retain the gold ink.

We found that old car switches which looked embossed were actually printed/screened. The plastic has deteriorated around the ink due to UV and use.
Not sure how that maybe the same for some machines but to copy a NOS part would be the best.

thanks another option to consider. I'm keen to try a few things to see what works. Then there's the durability bit when hit a few times with pinballs????
