No point trying to troubleshoot the machine until you do all the ground mods and repin the connectors.  Once these have been done, then you start to fix any other errors, otherwise you will be just chasing your tail.

Sound advice.. Clay's guide covers the ground mods - I have pictures of the Rocky with the mods applied in the restore thread.

I haven't restored my HH yet, I bought it as a non working project.  The guy I bought it off cleaned and re rubber it before I picked it up.  To date I've done every mod, grounds, up kicker, re pinned connectors, cleaned and adjusted every switch and drop target, re placed original power supply with ripple free great plains one, replaced all pop driver boards with rottendog ones, replaced backglass with repro, new lower playfield spider web, used decals to repair lower playfield wear and covered it with mylar, replaced all previous repairs and hacks etc etc.

Still have cabinet to touch up.  Then to strip upper and main playfields, touch up and then clear.  Not planning to do this until I need to re rubber it.

Happy to take and share photo's of what I've done, if it will help anyone.

It's just a good player at the moment

Yeah touched up and clear coated is the go, should make the game play a bit faster.  I used the decals on the lower playfield instead of touching up and clearing as the art work would be hard to match plus you have to be really looking hard to notice the decals there.

What sort of price did they charge to get the decals printed,just so i dont die of shock.

i had some wear under the pop bumper non sticky mylar, i have photo shopped the area

and will get it printed as well.

Yeh AD in the paper is the way to go. I place one often. havent picked up anything for a while though.

Youll definately pick up project games, thats why they get sold on - game dies and sits there looking messy and eventually the wife wants it out. Divorce or seperation circumstances can lead to really cheap pins. i once picked up 2 for $10. Lady refused to take anymore money than that. Of course this was done to REALLY piss off the ex husband, his loss - my gain. My first 30's pin came from one of my ads too.

One problem here though - most of the sellers have scrolled through Ebay and are convinced that the pin is a retirement fund. As such, ive found that responses to ads have fallen dramatically or ridiculous prices being asked.

But heres a run down of some of what ive picked up through ads.

Lost World - $120
Zac magic castle - $170
Flash - $150
Firepower - $100 ( had termites!!)
Judge Dredd - $400

..and the best one of all .... Gtb Solar Ride + Gtb Top Score - $10


Good luck - i only posted this as i saw you are NOT Brisbane based - dont want too much competition!!! LOL!!

Just sold my FT and have placed ads in local papers. Hoping I score some bargains as well.

Great job, how long did it take mucking around on photoshop?

not real sure how long it took to photoshop, probably three hours.

went to the print shop Saturday but they were closed , i dont knock of
until 5 oclock this week, hope they are open till 5.30.

I finished restoring the lower playfield in my HH yesterday,

popped it in the machine (for the first time in 13 years)

plugged it all in, hit the power button, solenoids fired and blew a fuse,

replaced that fuse and hit the power button again with the playfield up

so i could see what was happening, this time the game started up fine.

the only problem was the hole kicker (lower PF) would not kick the ball out

traced that to the connector between the MPU and SD board tonight.

So tonight i have opened up all the entrances to the lower PF and have

played 6 or 8 games in a row, I think i love this game, i mean the way

you can play three levels is fantastic.

i need to order some new connector pins, some of the pins in the connector

mentioned above are broken and none of the local parts people sell these pins

only the trifucon type.
