Dean, I checked the knocker when it gets to 5000 bonus and yes it is energized  and stays locked on.
why is this? it should knock  then stop being energized. ^&^

I had this problem once and it was the credit wheel not turning freely if it doesnt make the full turn it needs to it doesnt open the switch properly.  So id check that the credit wheel turns to each number by pushing in the coil by hand and letting it go.  Also while doing this check that any switches on the credit wheel open and close as they should.

Hi Ajlaird,
Abra ca dabra's INSTRUCTIONS...
completing 1-2-3-4 sequencescores bonus, increases bonus value and resets sequence
completing both "drop targets" lights center target. hitting center target when lit increases bonus value and resets "drop targets"
completing 1-2-3-4 sequence scores special when bonus value is 5000
center target lights for special when bonus is value 5000 and all "drop targets" are down.
      Special scores 1 replay
matching last two numbers in score to number that appears on back glass after game is over scores 1 replay

another PHOTO!  it shows the hold relay with a power resistor attached (will leave it there for now, unless told to get rid of it)

Almost definitely a switch staying closed when it should be open.

Don't be concerned with the hold relay resistor. The hold relay is energized while the game is on.

The credit unit should not be doing anything until you reach the first replay score or hit "special when lit". In the head - you should find a placard which has the configuration for the first free game. Check to see that it is jumpered correctly.

OK, changed it to suit one of the score cards,55,00...69,000...77,000...
It knocks at each score no drama.but when you go on to max bonus 5000 it does the big buzz sound credit wheel and knocker locked on.
I have no clue but it must be a switch or relay stuck on when 5000 bonus is scored that freaks out the knocker and credit wheel, because it behaves perfect when it knocks at 55,69,77,000 and the credit wheel advances a number per game won.
I just don't know where to look for bad switch !! !@#
THANKS EVERY ONE HELPING  @@* would like to solve it though

with the playfield up activate the scores until 4900 or just before the bonus with the issue and look for the relay that gets activated when you get the 5000 bonus hopefully you see a relay move then id be checking that one to see if all its switches open and close properly

OK,
2 things activated the steper thing under playfield(bonus counter up 4 step then reset back to start) I cleaned it steps good the 2 switches on it are open but on the 5000 bonus step they close. They are clean and close tight.
The other thing activted in (advance bonus relay) it has 7 switches 5 normally open and 2 closed,it seems to work.I mean when I move it by hand it opens closed ones and closes opened ones(switches)

The bonus goes up 1000 points at a time..1000,2000,3000,4000 and 5000 these are shown with light sockets in the playfield

This may not be related but is easily checked & eliminated, I think there is a switch at the score motor (Resets score units & adds bonus scoring unit) -Have you checked & cleaned all score motor switches)

Well im not sure here but it locks on when the 5000 bonus is lit but should only give a credit when the special target is hit?  If this is correct id check that the special target isnt jammed closed?

With Nino on this, do you have a copy of the electrical diagram Big Dog?  If so scan the part showing the coil for the credit wheel and post so we can see which relay/s it is activated by.  Obviously the machine is paying a credit from the 'Special' function of the centre target, so this special lite is lit?  Most likly a high resistance on a contact or backfeed from something else is stopping the credit unit from stepping fully.
