Topper not working on Police Force
« on: November 12, 2015, 11:06:03 PM »
Hey guys after sourcing a topper for this project, the topper now does not work. I know it was working as at one stage one side was flashing. I have all my boards repaired.  I am now at a complete loss. Help!!!!

Do you have the correct (906 flashlamp) globes installed?

Ok i have one side working
It seems the wiring on the two power connectors is slightly different hence why only one side works.
Also the #555 globes in it work. I have to change the lamp sockets. The two #906's don't work but it's like they don't fit in properly.

1st pic is of the working connector the second one is the one that doesn't work.

What did you do to get the one side working?

The manual states 906 globes to be used, which are rated at twice the volts of a 555, so not sure about their longevity.

Does your knocker work in coil test?

The right side I. E force side. Just changed sockets.  If i plug the power in the left side the board works so it has to be something wrong with the wiring on the plug as it looks different I. E doubled up.
Also as we speak three wires are loose on interconnect board plug J11 which I am trying to sort out

Fairly sure it does work , it is missing the middle.
Ok. I can easily change the smaller globes to "906"

Page 30.

It would be good to be able to test the knocker to eliminate/identify problems with the driver transistor.

The knocker shares a transistor with the left side topper lights.

Can you identify exactly which ones are not working.  See page 69 of the manual.
