Indiana jones mode start
« on: December 14, 2015, 04:48:28 PM »
Hi everyone.
I'm having some trouble with my ij. When going for the mode start the ball keeps bouncing out.  Also the ball bounces out of the left wire form ramp from time to time. Anyone else had the same thing?  Anything I can do to fix it. It's pretty frustrating  ^&^
Thanks.

Yep. Swap the angled ball stop behind the mode start hole with the one in the idol drop hole behind the 3 centre targets. I swapped them and went from 3 in 10 to about 8 in 10 staying in

Yep! Common problem with the mode start as I found out. I fixed mine by doing a couple of things.
Elongated the screw holes on the metal stopper so I could move it further back.
 Installed a Cliffy protector.

These didn't seem to help to much.

I think what helped the most for me was I pulled the metal stopper out and noticed the face that the ball hits was just slightly bent from repeated ball strikes. Squeezed it in a vice to flatten it out and re-grained the face that the ball strikes. It worked 99% of the time after that. Its been 12 months now and it has just started to reject balls so probably it has started to bend again and needs redoing.

Add a couple of pieces of target foam to the metal stopper at the back of the mode start hole.

Ok thanks for the advice I'll try it.  Anyone had trouble with the ball bouncing off the left ramp? Is it just my machine?

It bounces off the wire form just after it comes off the metal ramp. Most times it hits the biplane stand.

Is there a plastic on the top of the ramp?

Here is a picture of mine if it helps to compare? Do you have the correct flipper coils in the machine?

Thanks. It's the same. It has blue flipper coils. I think these are right?

Yes blue is the right colour. Should be a FL1-11629 coil.

Mine jumps off the ramps off the ramps from time to time.

The flippers seem a bit overpowered (not often you whinge about that)

Good advice re the mode start hole, I'll try them myself.

I didn't have any foam but I did have some sticky backed thinn rubber. A lining of that on the deflector worked a treat. Cheers for pointing me in that direction.

Yes, any shock absorbent material will work. I have rolls of target foam here for my pinball restoration work that's why I mentioned it.

Good to see one problem sorted.  ^^^
