Amusement Worx Adelaide Pinball Comp Thursday 22nd March 2016
« on: February 05, 2016, 07:10:12 PM »
Just a heads up for some of the local SA members who frequent AP (particularly all you lurkers I know for a fact you are out there  &&) that there will be a genuine open IFPA approved comp coming up in the next week here in Adelaide.

No forum affiliation required to gain entry.

We don't have enough genuinely open events of this type in Adelaide so it would be great if you could make it and have a fun night. You don't need to be the next Tommy to play and you can sign up/register for the IFPA league on the night.

Details as below.

Cheers.

IFPA Approved Event.

All Players Welcome
If you have never been to a IFPA event no problem we can registar you on the night.

Amusement Worx
287 Torrens Rd
West Croydon
Ph 8241 7370
Entry Fee for players $25.00each
Tournament format:
1) Registration and warm up 5.30 - 6.30 sharp
2) Information 6.30 - 6.40
3) Comp start 6.40
4) QUALIFYING. - Six machines set to no extra balls/ball savers on incl. multiball.
- Each player plays one game on each machine and will be ranked on each machine and awarded points. eg; if there are 24 players the highest score on each machine receives 24 points down to the lowest score receiving 1 point.
- The points for each of the six machines will be totalled for ranking.
- A maximum of 12 players will qualify for the finals.
- According to previous tournies I have played in, only half the qualifiers are allowed to go through to the finals. To have 12 qualify we therefore need 24 in qualifying.
- In qualifying players will need to play in pairs or triples if odd number of players to verify each others' scores (initial their score sheet).
- To save time, as soon as players finish and verify scores on a game, Simon will enter scores before the players go onto their next game.
5) FINALS - Single elimination best of three games on different machines.
- The higher ranked qualifier for game one of each best of three has the choice of either: machine played OR going first or second.
- If numbers allow 12 finalists the top 4 ranked qualifiers will have a bye in the first round of the finals.
6) For players who want more warm up time it is suggested they attend a lock in prior to the event Friday Feb 5 from 6-10.30pm.
7) Simon is not obliged to tell players which machines will be used in the competition.
8) On the night players should have their IFPA # ready, to save time. Just Google IFPA and your name to get your # if you have one
Hope you all can come let me know
see you on the 11th of Feb 2016

This was a great post. The organisers seem very accomodating & it sounds very well organised.
More of these over Australia would be awesome.
Adelaide has some amazing collectors & the last time I visited an event there I got to meet some great guys & see some amazing collections.

Good luck to all the guys who attend & any feedback from the event would be much appreciated by the forum I am sure. Well done.

Next comp details are up for Amusement Worx IFPA sanctioned tournament. It is a double header to again cater for those who may have other commitments or if not the bonus of getting additional tournaments under your belt.

Every event that AW holds there are more attendess (particularly new faces to the pinball scene) than the last which is a great sign.

Thanks to the combined efforts of the hosts, organisers and attendees, we are finally turning around the pinball scene in SA for the better.  ^^^

To those that have opted to remain in the background on AP in the interim, but have attended these events advertised I thank you and hope to see you there for the next one.

On that note, I think we may have also finally turned around AP for the better as well to what the forum founder Creech originally intended it to be so hope to see those lurkers posting here in the near future.  ^^^

Just have to make sure my calendar is clear on Tuesday night, but if I can make this one, will do.

Great to see how quickly the SA pinball scene has improved with a few public meets under its belt.
