Shortest time a pin has been in your collection.
« on: February 10, 2016, 12:39:35 AM »
After having a pin in my collection that only lasted about 4 weeks before I had to have it gone. I hated it so much that I couldn't get rid of it quick enough. I never thought I would actually despise a pin. I assumed they were like a pizza in that even a bad one was still ok.
I thought it might be good to see if anyone else has hated a pin as much. I know you can play a pin and not enjoy it but to actually have it in your collection.
What's the shortest time guys?
By the way it was WCS.

Maybe a bit of a devisive one - shortest for me was Twilight  Zone. Only had space for a few games back then and the stop-start play didn't appeal. Getting LITZ on the second or third night didn't help.

That said, probably would own one again ......

Space Invaders.

After spending years trying to find the machine my father traded for a brick BBQ in the backyard (1990s), I ended up buying Wotto's project. I restored it and LOVED playing it. It was a big hit on a NYE party at my place, and shortly after, my 2 year old son started having nightmares about the backglass. One night my wife was turning off the lights and she walked past the gamesroom and the reflection from the moon must have caught the reflection of the mirrored backglass and that was enough for her to ask me to move it on ASAP. A blanket was put over the headbox until I sold it - regretfully. I had a deal with the missus - Spacies out - Medusa in. So I bought a Medusa and NO ONE ever complained again. Recently, I tracked down another Spacies (via the forum whilst posting this story) and TOAD's missus sold her game to me - which I will wait until my daughter turns 10 to restore.

My missus does not know I have another Spacies.. #@#

2yrs. STLE and had it for sale after 4 months and 30 games. Took 20 months and many tyre kickers but finally sold it for what it was worth.

Wide body Williams Indianna Jones.
Machine was beautiful. Only got to put about twenty games on it.
Only Sold it because another member was desperately chasing one and I thought I would help him out & get another later. Had it only a month.
Have replaced it so all ended well for both collectors.
A fine WMS wide body. Has a unusual feel to it although.
Very top heavy playfield.

Probably a toss up between Secret Service and Circus. I think Secret Service was moved on in a shorter time period. Game was okay, great sounds but the whole buying process and getting it fixed up just left the thing sitting sour with me. The PF ripoff of Flash didn't do much for the respect of the design either.

Had a similar (non) experience with a Police Force recently. Self-proclaimed experts made outlandish claims regarding it, but within 10 seconds you came to realise said claims had little substance to them and no intellectual depth whatsoever.

Basically a pile of shit on legs.

The shortest would be Earthshaker had it just short of 5 months . Loved the look of the game and the theme but found it very repetitive. Also had a Lethal weapon 3 which I had for 6 months which I sold to buy Earth shaker. Ended up with a T2 and couldn't believe the similarities to LW3 but find it much more enjoyable to play.

Gtb Quick Draw; had it about a year and a half.

It actually sat untouched for about six months before i started on the resto which took me nearly a year to do.
After i'd restored the p/f and b/g i kept it for a month before i traded it for a Bally Black Pyramid, (got Black Pyramid and about $500 in exchange for Quick Draw).

I kept Black Pyramid about three years before moving it on.

IIRC, this was the infamous game with the mains power floating around in the fusebox. That game was a deathwish.
