Judge Dredd Feedback
« on: March 14, 2016, 11:19:23 AM »
Hi Guys
A pin-less mate is doing some early investigation on what first pin to buy and has asked me for some feedback on a Judge Dredd.
I have never played one but have done a bit research in the usual online places and I don't mind what I have seen so far.
May not be everyone's taste but I like the art, music and gameplay.
Would appreciate any feedback from owners, ex_owners or anyone who know's the game.
Thanks

Used to be a great bang for buck machine but prices seem to have risen to give.. well... less bang for buck.

I always found the game lacking.. starts off cracking with ramp shots, then multiball etc but then often i found myself holding the ball with the flipper trying to get the game going again.
It seems to reach a point of game play and then... nothing.

Cab art usually has fade in the reds and yellows and eagle topper is always missing if you are into cosmetics.
Widebody or perhaps the long looping left ramp makes the game seem slow.
Great audio and callouts - 10 years for flatulence!
Make sure the Deadworld assembly is working properly.
Moderately tough upper right mini flipper shot gives a decent mini ramp loop challenge.
Be thankful they based it on the comic and not the Stallone movie - we don't need another Demo Man style translite!
For a theme that is heavily into law enforcement and firearms, not having any pop bumpers to simulate gunfire almost seems "criminal" but the row of drop targets make up for it.

I wouldn't go over $3k but with the used BW market being what it currently is you could be waiting for a while to find one that fits under that price.
Solid B list machine - decent BW title that often gets overlooked from that era.

Personally i think its a dunger. Sold it for 1800 a year or so ago and was happy with that. As said above cabs are usually faded however playfields are generally pretty good.

Not sure why i don't like it. Music is good but it just doesn't have the whole game appeal to me.

I reckon something like Roadshow is a much better choice. Also a widebody.  Whether a machine is good or bad is a matter of personal opinion. Best advice is get out and put some game time on one to see for yourself

Like the game a lot in every way.
It really needs pop bumpers. I don't buy games usually without pop bumpers but it's a great game if u can get a great condition machine under 3500 with great cabinet and play field. Topper a bonus but can be had for $400 to $500.
Play it a lot and with the topper she is a looker for sure.

Music, aesthetics and theme are all positives but like Gavin said - just lacking continuity. Seems to lack a progression or a sense of moving forward throughout longer periods of play. It was actually quite a perplexing game when I owned it. I was thinking WTF is going on here, what shot ties into what?!

Looks beautiful though - particularly with its topper

Not a bad game, pretty quick for a widebody.
Good that it is based on the Comic books and not that stupid stallone movie.

My general overview of JD goes like this.

Owned it, played it, beat it, kept on beating it, sold it ages ago and don't miss it.

if you keep beating it, I suppose it stands to reason to sell it and not miss it.
Still loving my Metallica Premium

Well it is a very easy game to beat, like most B/W games it isn't that hard or deep.
To keep it in perspective though I have beaten lots of games over and over that I do miss, this just isn't one of them.

No such thing as beating a pinball !

If say you get all the modes done then an increase in setting difficulty is what's needed

Been there, done that.
Pinballs are easy to beat, especially the majority of B/W games.
