Ghostbuster Unboxing PG style
« on: July 23, 2016, 09:15:36 PM »
Firstly I’d like to thank all the guys who helped unbox this game; you really made it a special event and a lot of fun. Secondly please excuse the quality of photos as my wife still thinks she doesn’t need to wear her glasses lol. And finally I’d like to send out a big thanks to my wife for buying me the game and for preparing all the food and hospitality to taking care of us while we indulged in pure pinball mayhem.

If you think waiting 3 months was hard, seeing this box for two days in the living room was a challenge.

But Saturday did roll up and Peter the Stern unboxing champion provided all the good advice on how to unbox. Also the guys helped with the muscle side too. We did the unboxing as per the Stern manual.

Because AMD did a check of the machine at their end, we did a quick backbox cable inspection and then got straight into gameplay.

Even though GB is a great game, my other games still got a little love on the night.

First pic L to R Dallas (pinball comp player), me and Johnny C (top 10 in OZ). Johnny in pic 2, this guy is a gun and consistently scores high on any modern pin especially Sterns. Troy aka Genie in pic 3

But there was no way Peter aka Gorgar1 was going to go to the darkside and leave the GB as there was a Grand Champion High Score on the line and he was intent on leaving his mark on the night lol. He also won a small prize for his effort.

Thanks guys. BTW, no incorrect spellings, dodgey slimer, bad locks, or insert ghosting so far. Plenty of airballs and some cheap drains, but I don't have the incline right I think. This game is very addictive so you tend to bypass some of the setup things because you just wanna play the thing. So will look into setups tomorrow.

I have to say, this is not a one pinball collection game IMO. It can really demoralize a player and I have been frustrated to the point of anger, but I keep pushing that start button wanting to see what the end of "Ballroom' mode looks like etc. I'm also trying to find ways of gaining control of the ball but this is very, very difficult. To really have a great game you need to hit the sweet spot for shots on the fly on a regular basis.

You do not have time to flounder either as modes time out and then you need to spend more play time reactivating the mode and time is not your friend in this game.

Compared to other Sterns, slimer is not quite as nice as Sparky (Metallica) but more challenging, a drain monster and chaotic like IM, brutal and frustrating as TWD but once in a mode you are faced with more variety of shots to complete and max scoring, not as deep a rule set as acdc but then again you don't need a degree to walk up to this game to know what to do off the bat, and finally Music/sound as no other game provides that brings a smile to your face, and the odd laugh and yes.....sometimes a mini dance from the rhythmically challenged lol.
