I even had this same issue with pc based cnc/manufacturing machines. Lcd was superseded with another and the replacement did not works without a bit of mucking around. Also how often do dead pixels occur in lcd's now? There's too many anal pinheads out there that cry over trivial things, can you imagine a dead pixel or two???
