Got the Spin a Card home about one hour ago (thanks again Paul) and thought I'd set her up and have a few games. Like always when you buy a 'working EM' that is 40 years old they don't actually 'work' anywhere like they should.

So slidding the playfield glass off went and grabbed the camera to document the restoration for this fine web site.

Take some before restoration photos to post tonight and think....'mmmmm, might see how good that playfield is under that mylar'

You can see where this is going already...

So out comes the heat gun, on the playfield and the mylar is coming up nicely and without doubt the playfield has never had a ball on it - mylar applied when new. Feeling very very happy continue for 10 minutes....all going well....getting happier...Judas Priest pumping through surround sound system, not caring about elderly neighbours 

Then a section of the f*cking playfied paint comes up - an area of about 2cm square.

That might explain the sound you guys just heard coming from the East Coast.

Totally shattered, just walk away, end of any more restorations tonight

oh shit mylar removal scares the shit out of me for this reason, you think you have got it and then bang its rooted,
I want to remove the mylar on my new zenon but im to scared.

That is what makes it even worse Rob, it's right across a 'card' face (the Queen of Aces) and will be a bastard to fix...what really makes me freak out is there is no turning back and I'm really worried what else might happen....

hey if its any consolation the only massive F*&K I heard this arvo was me yelling it,  when my son ( we just came back from a 2-1 win at soccer this arvo  ) kicked a ball straight through the lounge room window, ( fu*kin glass everywhere )

So  - can you stop it where it is and now cut the mylar along some areas of the graphics ( edges ) where you wouldnt notice the cuts?
This is really dependent on the graphics on the PF though - Make sense?

Have taken off about 1/3 of the mylar of the lower left of the playfield...so would look even worse if left like that.

Will just have to cool off and think about it for now. Damn game is the first one in the door also  So every time I walk in there what is the first thing I'll see

DAMN...sorry Tony...almost feel as if its my fault for putting you onto the machine...

Anyway same thing happend to me with the kiss...I ended up giving up on the mylar and cut it where I was upto and left it...but hard to see it on the kiss...maybe different on your machine...anyway good luck..could think about doing the touchup on your pc and using a waterslide decal..ive got a few sheets of that decal paper left..can give you one or 2 when your up here if you like...

Thought I heard some swearing,thought it was the neighbours,then reading your dilema realised it came from Bulli.
Cheer up Tony,it will work out Ok,especially with youre pinball expertise.
Put a blanket over it and put it in the corner and leave it for a month,maybe start on the Sweethearts restore instead

Hmm, day one mylar.  Shame but regardless of the removal method (unless it was the bandaid rip!) it may have come off no matter what...
