What type of playfield are you looking to clean?

Generally speaking the Novus products (1, 2 & 3) will work on all.
Never spray liquid cleaners directly onto a playfield as this can cause damage (and clean with machine turned off and unplugged at wall).

Checkout the PinballSpareParts as they can deliver.  Much cheaper to buy in Australia rather than importing yourself.

If the playfield is very dirty, make sure to clean the ball troughs and ramps etc..  Also check the balls as well.  If they are pitted or rusted, replace them and consider replacing the batteries at the same time too!

Most of the guys I've spoken to use Nifti as a first cleaning step. Probably best sprayed on a rag rather than directly on the playfield. Found in supermarkets everywhere.

Then you can use Novus (I'd say Novus 2 would be most useful) with a buffer - this will remove fine scratches but care needs to be taken not to go too deep.

To finish off you can then use a wax to polish the playfield - Carnuba wax or Mill wax seems to be popular.

I use shellite, great stuff as it evaporates really quick. Depends on PF condition, post pics and the guys can recommend a course of action!

Depending on the playfield condition ;

  • Compressed air
  • Damp rag
  • Nifti sprayed on a rag
  • Damp rag with water only
  • Novus 2
  • Meguiars paste wax

Shellite is Naptha. It really should not harm the playfield. It is useful to remove the mylar residue.

I found out the hard way with cleaning one of my gottleib aprons. Warm water & soap was too much for it.

The playfields i am cleaning are on my rancho & card whiz. But i also want to wax them when im done.

I will try using novus 2 on a rag first.

Is it best to apply light pressure & a circular motion when applying Novus??

Also, Can you buy wax locally??
