Best Flat Pack Pinball available?
« on: April 28, 2020, 09:15:29 PM »
Hi
Not sure if this is the best place to post this question, but any help is appreciated.
I am wanting to find a supplier who makes a superior quality flat pack pinball packages available on the market.
Ideally, would like the supplier to be Australian, but if the supplier is from overseas I don't mind. Just looking for a superior / quality built flat pack. If the supplier has options for artwork, and additional features, that would be an added bonus.

Please list any suggestion, and reasoning behind the suggestion, as I am in the early phase researching a build for a virtual / Future pinball.

RetroPlay (https://www.dave-techguy.com/) have some great looking pinballs, but from what I can tell, RetroPlay does not sell any flatpacks?
I dod fine an earlier post here (http://aussiepinball.com/index.php?topic=11409.0), with potential flat pack, but form what I can tell http://infinityamusements.com does not exist?

I presume the best wood to use for the superior quality cabinet would be  - A Grade Exterior Birch plywood? Please correct me if I am wrong.
The other question that I have which related to the flat pack query is: What is the difference between standard, wide and ultra wide cabinets. I had assumed that pinball came in one size, and the option of three sizes seems strange? If someone can explain the differences / purposes, I would be grateful.
Thank you in advance.

Is this the right place to post the above questions, or should I post it elsewhere within the forum?

I'd think if i was looking for a new cabinet i'd try to find a way to download plans. If i could get plans i'd just go to my local kitchen place or joinery and talk to them.

You could try contacting Tim - http://hotroddedpins.com/ - he does replacement cabinets (my AFM has the very first customer prototype from many years ago) for his restorations. May be able to strike a deal.

Thanks Nick,

I slowed down the production of these for the last couple of years. I felt we needed to devise a better ordering process for them.

Ive probably said this somewhere else here, but its amazing how many factory changes were made to the cabinets over each games production. The physical size of the cabinets is the same, while nearly every other hole center location changes.

I have every intention of offering these up to sell again, and I think the model will be something like this

- we choose to run cabinet X, Y and Z (eg Funhouse, Addams Family and Attack from Mars)
- we announce this here on the forum, on our Facebook page etc - and the order list is open on the above titles for a few weeks
- we close the list for the above titles, contact the people who put their name down and lock in the orders
- we fulfil the orders of the above titles, customers pay, cabinets are shipped out - i have a beer (because they aren’t a walk in the park to produce)
- we clean up the shop, and we go again - this time with three different titles

I would be open to other ideas here, but what I found last time was it just became overwhelming making several different titles at one time - and rarely did we make two of the same cabinet together.

I would also be interested in the virtual pinball side of things - we could certainly make a stripped down cabinet available for these type of projects. I would be interested to know what these guys require - i would guess they wouldn’t have to be as detailed in some areas.

Not looking for flat pack replacement cabinet. Just looking for a flat pack pinball kits  that I can build for a virtual pinball cabinet.
Ideally, the kit should be superior / and of high quality materials. Hoping that a supplier exist in Australia first, and if not, then overseas.
These was a link that I provided in my earlier post that suggested that infinity amusements was looking as doing one, but I don't think the company no longer exists as the web site does not work.

It is an option, but I am hoping so a solution that I can build from a flat pack solution skipping that step.
Do you know of any available plans / instructions for a virtual pinball cabinet? Please provide links if you have any. Thank you.

Hi
I would be interested in a virtual pinball flat pack kit that I can build from ground up, similar to the earlier link provided.
Ideally, flat pack to be made from superior materials and high quality.
The intention would be to purchase the flat pack with any options if applicable / required (ie. artwork option, DMD option, electronic gizmo options ...)
Separately, I would purchase the additional items to complete the virtual pinball (ie. PC components, monitors)
Is these an supplier in Australia that offers this service now?
D

where possible stay away from mdf cabinets - not bagging the people making cabinets with mdf but you need to be super careful not to get any moisture near the cabinet otherwise the cabinet will blow apart, also screwing in the ends will spilt them apart as well.

Yes, Thanks, that's why I want to stay away from MDF.D

Thanks. Ideally, I want to find a local manufacturer in Australia (if possible).
I am looking forward to HRP's reply, as this may be a solution.
Does any one know what happen to http://infinityamusements.com. Do they still exist? as I kow they were looking at using premium material other than MDF.
