I think the link plunger is unique to this assembly and might be your problem.

Your ball seems to hesitate before it starts to roll after the gate activates - I wonder if the wood is dented a little at the switch slot? That might be delaying it moving and allowing the gate to catch it.

THanks heaps for that!

OK...I've got that plunger so I'll put it back on again.  The wire gate is off, mine is slightly different and it gets stuck.  I would have to make one by hand I suspect.  I will check the wood around the switch to see...

I'll report back shortly.

Mine is identical to Nick's.

A couple of washers to manipulate the degree of the guides couldn't hurt !

Do you mean the side metal guides of the trough or the guides the PF sit on?

The metal part of the gate that the ball hits is actually kicking your ball backwards a tad and so by the time the ball gets back the gate is closing/has closed. Look at how my ball immediately moves forward as the gate releases, but your ball goes backwards first.

The switch actuation wire is possibly too high/too great an angle, might be allowing the ball to roll back? But it looks like a mechanical set up issue (see my very first suggestion) and should be able to be sort with some tweaking.

When it was working OK - the switch gap was almost non existant...Making it activate when flippers being used etc...

By hand it feels perfect and very smooth.

Look at your photo and mine...The centre of the metal gate vs the switch hole?  Not sure if its the angle of the camera or not.....  *!@

Leave the gap as is, but decrease the angle of the top part of the wire.

OK - I bent the actual wireform back a touch (ie decreasing the angle), no different.  Changed the gap on the switch - no different.   !*!
