got a schematic ?

Gottlieb's have a "defeat" switch - looks lie a tilt on the bottom board... Feeds power from the transformer. If this is not closed, nothing happens.

Check Fuses

Check "hold Relay" is on...

Double check with the schematics !

I know this sounds stupid,

but turn game on - open door and manually close switch to give credits, then press game start switch.

.... Let us know what happens

its a really fundamental problem so to speak, to not initiate reset cycle when depowered, is odd... for curiousity advance a couple of things out of whack and repower, maybe a clue here or there ?

Ok.

I dont know the game, but it is a GTB from 75 or 76.

Reason i asked you nto do what i did before is that some of these old EM's have no attraction mode. You can turn game on and its completely dark - nothing. Game only lights up when a coin is deposited.

Ok, but now weve got that out of the way....

Inside your machine is a relay that will feed the power to the PF etc - this is out. if it were a Wms i could point you to it straight away.

But try this - open up the PF with the game on. Now be REALLY BLOODY CAREFUL and manually hold in the 115v relay - use the white leaf spacer to do this - do all the lights come on? With this manually held in - you may even be able to get into reset mode.

If this works then look at the "S" relay - one or more of the leafs is out.

Get back to us again when youve done this - if you dont get back ill assume youve electrocuted yourself and call the ambulance

115V doesnt work?? But TILT does??

Check ALL tilt switches inc door slam, plumb bob, cabinet tilt and the override switch in bottom of cabinet ( the one NIno told you to look at).

sounds like one of these is wrong - TILT is enabled

The "B" relay on my pioneer (around the same vintage) is one of the pop bumper relays. Maybe a stuck switch is causing it to lock on & smoke.

STOP !

Smoking in an EM is a Serious matter that needs to be dealt with properly. It will be a "locked on" coil - either a bumper or a relay. You need to locate the cause of the issue. As mentioned, if it is the bumper, check the switch. The chime and 10 or 100 pt relay may or may not go off, as it is common for the second set of switches on the bumper switch stack to be broken ...

Please locate the smoking coil.

It could even be the second switch stack is open - causing the "B" relay to stay "on" - But this will cause the chime coil and scoring coil to stay on.. this is switch issue and it needs to be fixed...

First check - compare the switch stack in each bumper.
