Bumper problem
« on: August 30, 2009, 06:01:55 PM »
Playing my machine last night and I smelt a burning smell and the coil that shoot's the ball into the shooter lane was lazy(shot soft) Turned machine off and had a look today and all's well back to normal. Had a look around and it looks like one of the bumper skirts was getting stuck down when the ball hit it so the contact was getting stuck on and not releasing would that cause a burning smell and slow some other coils down?? I pulled the bumper apart that was getting stuck and theres a few broken bits of metal and the white bumper spoon is letting the white post thingy slide out of the spoon and hence the skirt gets stuck on..Sorry Im not sure what stuff is called so hope I haven't confused you..Would It have damaged any boards??  Will look at buying parts now..

Peter - Which game ?

So is the bumper spoon full of dirt holding the bumper skirt in one position and not allowing it to return ? You may need to clean the bumper spoon and then observe the skirt movement

GORGAR  !!!

I thought the spoon was broken but its the same as the TW-the spoon has a sort of cut out and that allows the plastic stick to come out of the spoon..I found that the rod and ring one of the thread has broken right off and theres no nut on one side so I reckon the whole things out of balance-would that cause the spoon to not work as it should??? I now need to find a new "rod and ring"..

Rod and Ring
Metal Bushing

They are standard - Both commercial sellers would stock them as they are fairly generic.

GI? Christ - you want to see under the caveman...

EVERY bulb holder has the earth braid soldered across/around the head of the mounting bolt... Gottlieb shit...mumble...piss....moan...  !!@ !!@ !!@

Need to buy a de-soldering station just to clean the friggin' inserts! (I don't like the idea of bending them - took me about 6 hours to do every globe/insert on PZ)

*******************************

BTW: Where do you get the red condom things to go over a #44 globe? (For "red" GI lights on PZ) need about 5.
Why is it called PMS?
Because "Mad Cow Disease" was already taken...

Earth braid soldered to the base is common on all the manufacturers of this era. Just take your time.

How about posting a resto thread - I'm keen to see the progress of your Caveman.
