Cactus Canyon Clean
« on: September 26, 2009, 01:31:04 PM »
Got my Cactus off Mark a while ago and have warmed to it a lot more now. Was a bit disappointed with the game play as was comparing it to my LOTR.(great game)
The more I played it the more I came to liking it as never play one before I purchase it. Was lucky that I got Mark to put new decals on it before he sent it that saved me a year just there.

It started of a just a quick clean and tidy up, now everything is pulled apart all over the place. Sanded the entire inside of cabinet, as wanted a really good job done. ^^^

Well did I stuff it up, painted it Gloss Black and manage to rest my arm on it when still wet, paint again this time to thick and can see some run marks, third time lucky done. Wasn't really happy with it as just looked to new and way to shiny, had a another member come over and said the same thing.(bagged me) !!! Sanded again, but this time I used Satin Black, looks a lot better. Decided to leave the bottom with the wood look, with a coat of vanish and just waiting on some goodies to come from mark(nut and bolts)and she going to come up sweet.
Got new speaker system and leg plates, earth straps ect all to put back in. This is a picture of the machine with first attempt, way to shiny.
What does everyone else use gloss, satin or matt.

I use the 'Plastikcote' (not sure about spelling) matt black from Bunnings.  I found this gives a nice finish very close to factory.

Wonder
You are right using satin black. Its the closest match to the WMS factory black.
Looking forward to the finished pictures.

Yes you were, I just need someone else to say it to push me over the edge and paint again. But yes a lot better now.
I wear the pants most of the time but she got this saying
"you not playing pinball until your done some of the other jobs"
pitty there about two hundred job do so ill take the good with the bad.

and Morrie when holding a staple gun, which end would you hold with your hand so the staple dosent go into it <.>

Cactus nearly back together , just got to wait for delivery of my bag of screws to turn up and can reassemble for good. With all these new parts becoming aviable at a great price, it easer to replace than clean in the tumbler.
Will have to change that decal Mark as stands out to much, but rest of machine 100%.Just send with next parts order ^^^
Will take better photo in day light as camera is crap with flash.

Thanks Gibo

Is does look good. Its one of the doors i got a while ago, all ready done from overseas.
With Mark and his very cheap doors ^^^ I might try and find someone locally to give it a go.If they stuff it up not going to cost to much to replace.
