Another Price Check Please
« on: September 27, 2009, 05:47:41 PM »
Could I get your thoughts on what a Bally Paragon would be realistically worth please?

Cabinet in average/faded condition.  Rear of backbox starting to de-laminate.

Very nice playfield.

Backglass ordinary apparently.

Mechanically and electrically sound machine.

Thanks.

Yep - I would agree.

Fully reconditioned would push higher towards $2800.

Thanks guys.

Here are a few pics to help give a better idea about the machine and what it may be worth.

Keep your thoughts and ideas coming.  I can see some wear and ball swirl but for it's age it doesn't look too bad.  The owner has had a fair bit of work done on the boards as well.

Two words - grab it!

I have two playfields with my project Paragon and neither are as good as that one.

Backglasses will be eventually available from CPR and stencils allready available from Pinballpal

Biggest problem with this one is it is in the States.  Shame I didn't know about it a month or two ago when Mark was offering container space for $500.

I am going to get in touch with a customs broker tomorrow and try to get an idea what it will cost me to get it here at the moment.  The guy has the stencils with it as well and will sell them with the machine at a slightly discounted price to what he paid for them - they are still in the box.

At a rough guess I reckon it would cost me around the $2k mark all up landed and released in Melbourne, maybe more maybe a bit less (I'm banking on more).  I'll see how close I am tomorrow.

I just said that I would probably sell a machine to pay for it and make space so she's almost cool with it.  Long way to go though before securing this one, cross fingers it all works out.

Here is some of what has been done to the machine........

"Paragon-- electronically and mechanically spot on. New mother board, new Tom Callahan power board, up graded power connectors, new caps and all other boards gone through by Steve Kulpa (one of the best Bally SS men east of the Mississippi river). I had him change all the scr's on the light board and even put a new potentiometer on the sound board. Flippers completely rebuilt including new stops, shafts, sleeves, etc. New drop target springs, all new flipper bats including the correct small bat that says 'flipper'. Now, real hard to get, new pop bumper caps......"

That is a nice looking Paragon - most have a lot more playfield wear than that.  Backglass looks to have the usual delamination problem they seem to get but not too bad.  Cab has the standard fade but looks OK.  If you could get it landed for not much over 2k it would seem a good deal.  I have one and really like the game play - quite quick for a wide body (and it is really wide!).

cheers
Ian

Looks like a great machine.

If you land it here for $2K you wont lose $$ on it but do check all the extra costs you might expect with something like this. I think a few of the guys here that have recently imported pins have had to shell out a few extra bikkies for unseen extra costs.

I have 2 project Paragons , both with munted playfields and when a good playfield does come up it usually sells for around $600-$800 USD plus of course shipping and I doubt whether CPR are going to run it anytime soon.
