Sleepless night 1 in da house!!!
« on: October 06, 2009, 11:18:09 PM »
Im buzzing inside - i have 2 games arriving tomorrow to my shop. I have a ton of work to chew through and these 2 games are going to be sitting there all wrapped up waiting for me to prise them open.
One game in particular has been a 6 years search and i never thought id find one... a very rare and very unique pinball.

To say im twitching with excitement is an understatement!!!!   && && &&

Just like Christmas Day when you were 5 years old !

I know the feeling, it keeps us "in touch" with our childhood. Lets all rally behind Gav;

"we want pix, we want pix, we want pix.."

Could have used another one, but it would have sent people off to www.ipdb.org in a "frenzy".

Gav playing a FH after a spliff (I love that word) - Now that would be comical !

I thought the word "Frenzy" would have given it away  #@#

Awright...

1 game is in the games room.... not sure what you guys are expecting here.. maybe some woodrail?? EM arcade machine?? Rare SS machine???

Well yes - its actually a VERY rare EM pinball... i like my odd machines -  rare ones that are hard to source and oddball games...well this one certainly fits the bill.

Game is a 1968 RALLY COMICS - made in France and constructed with ideas and technology that was way beyond its time.
Not much is known about these games.. shrouded in mystery. This one comes with schematics and handbook - how cool is that?

heres some pics of the day

Machine arrives at my shop

The leg levellers - reading the book - back legs have slides for moving game - front legs shock absorbers. to move game lift front and slide

Tha game itself - playfield glass lifts seperately then PF lifts

The PF... what you see here are the bumpers and slings - plastic bars are the rebound sling shots - these can be hit at any angle and will be repelled in the opposite direction - its a 360 deg sling - even the very ends repel. Round plastic is pop bumper

Centre circle here catches ball and fllings it off in a random direction

Bottom of PF - ball follows route to always end up at plunger - the red circle between the flippers rises to prevent ball drain during game

The heart of the machine - slides out of the back.. notice most of the fuses have been replaced with aluminuim foil

Some big ass coils under the PF - notice the metal discs etc - these allow bumper to fire no matter what angle it is hit at.. disc rocks over and is the rectified by coil pulling in - this gives hot opposite repel action

One more of the whole machine

BUT WAIT THERES MORE!!!!

I thought  - What the hell... despite the alfoil fuses, ill pluge her in and see what happens - after all can only trip the overload switch and shut the TV down for the kids which cant be that bad... so stand back and plug in i do

SHE WORKS!!!!!

Ive had several games out of her - she is getting faster the more i play.. rubbers are turning to powder,, but as she is being played, the contacts are cleaning themselves... gotts love EM's!!!!

NOW...... THE REAL GEM!!!

Take a look at the score disp[lays - this is 1968... this is done with Nixie tubes... just awesome!
Game also has electronic sounds that put early Stern sounds to absolute shame!

A better look - Backglass hinges up... one burnt out nixie can be seen here.. luckily those crafty Ruskis are still making them.. ill let you all into an insight of me - i bloody love Nixie tubes!!

Last one - backglass illumination and the workings under the glass

As i clean her up and REALLY find out how she works, ill do some more posts... but for now a 6 year serch is over, game works and i am absolutely chuffed to bits!!!! @@* @@* @@* @@* @@* @@* @@* @@* @@* @@* @@*
