Future Spa backglass
« on: November 01, 2009, 02:06:25 PM »
Just a question about the Future Spa backglass. I've read it has a type a 'foil' or 'holographic film' behind the word Future Spa on the backglass. I can' tell from the IPDB photos. Is this part of the print? or is this stuck on separately? I don't know what to look for so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It looks like a piece of tape from the back. Maybe its foil. It looks really strange & I think Bally only did this with Future Spa. I have owned 4 over the years. Weird box for the lights. The rest of the glass is made just like all the other Bally pins.

I've seen two Future Spa backglasses. From memory, the effect you are referring to is part of the backbox - not the backglass. The backglass is simply a standard silkscreened backglass with an "effect" - but I don't think it had any holographic film.

OK i found this info......

"but there should be a rectangular
box in the upper-left corner of the head insert, with (controlled) lights
inside.  It is intended to have a thin plastic foil covering it in such
a way that multi-coloured patterns are transmitted onto the backglass
(behind the "Future Spa" lettering). I believe someone on RGP said you
can get a similar foil at theatre-supply stores, to be used for stage-
lighting effects.  "

.....so the film is in the backbox not on the backglass. Cool, now i know what to look for. Cheers guys.

Never seen one from the back before.  But the pics i just found online would indicate there isn't the white masking in the title like the rest of the glass.

Edit-
Well actually the white masking is there.  But it's covered in some kind of filum.
