Which is worth more, first run, or remake?

As we all know, Sterns business model is to do a run of games, if they sell well, do another run, and another, and so on….

Take a ‘The Simpson’s party pinball’, quite a successful game for Stern, they have re-run these quite a few times.
You want to buy one for your collection;

You find two games offered for sale;

Both are HUO

Both are in the same condition

One is from the original release

One was made three years later..

Which do you buy, the original, or the remake? 
(This is a hypothetical question)

I would go the later model one.  Any bugs or service bulletin fixes would already be done.

That is why I nominated TSPP, no limited editions
Also why I did not mention BBB, those 17 originals will always be worth more (But I would still love to one day own a remake)

Its like buying the first model/release of a new car,you always wait for the 2nd generation with all the bugs fixed and updated bits n pieces added on.

BUT, if you could buy a 2006 model Simpsons that was mint condition for say $4500, or a brand new one for $7 grand, and u were going to keep it, take the earlier model and save some bucks for the NEXT pinball.theres always room for one more !

All else being equal, I don't think there would be any difference in value unless people wanted to differentiate on age. And for more recent pins, that may be a factor.

Might be drawing a long bow.  But if you have a choice between a 2003 falcon and a 2006 falcon.  Both one owner with low k's.  "Should" they be the same price?.

With second hand TSPP's, the first run models still command a very similar price to the newer runs for some reason.

The price of second hand late model Sterns should be very interesting in the coming months, as the dollar strengthens and more NIB models come into the country at hopefully a price that reflects the exchange rate.

I would buy the later,less hours running/latest roms/mod's ect, As which is worth more-this is the problem with stern pin's as they never go up in value because you can go buy a brand new one from the factory,
TSPP are not a remake, they are a rerun as the same company is making them,not like other remakes,eg BBB or MM if the orginal williams were making
another run of MM would the ass fall out of the prices on the 97 models,i would think so,
From what i have read,i don't think that even the PF will be making MM,something to do with not having the right's to make the assembly's that IP have the right's too,?

At this point in time I would want the newer one, maybe 10 or 20 years down the track the original version may become the more collectable version but for now, newer one for the reasons everyone else has suggested.

but if bally make one I think the williams ones will be worth more and go up in value
its a shame if ever remade it will be a bally MM and not a williams MM

look at BBB  the orginal ones  are worth 30 - 50 K US  ( after speaking to Gene he told me he was offered 50kUS  for his and he said NO)
where as the remake ( under capcom  too)  is worth allot less , still heaps though

i wonder what will king pin be worth ?
