A little bit of history.....
« on: November 03, 2009, 10:31:33 PM »
Had a little bit of spare time and was going through my pinball paperwork.

When i purchased my Spirit in 2005 i found a receipt which was purchased by the owner before me in 1987.

Now my guess is he was an operator as i also found gameplay receipts from

Robot
Playboy
Firepower 2
Space Shuttle
Spirit and
Comet.

They must have made a ridiculous amount of many as most of the games on average had between 350-550  20 c games in a 4-7 day period !

Original receipts posted enjoy....

WOW what a fantastic piece of history you have there-I reckon back in the 70's these guys must have cleaned up as the machines local to me where cleaned out once a week and the bloke walked off with a brown bank bag full of coins and I also remember finding a machine with the coin door unlocked and it was full of coins-and yes I played for free the rest of the day $#$

I was young at the time - But what you see here WAS typical of weekly earnings in "the good old days".

I remember the days when the old man would get service calls only to find the reason the machine was not working was because the coin box was overflowing.

Machines were emptied weekly in the 70's - the coin boxes were too heavy to lift out of the (good) machines.

Thanks for sharing, Marco - cool piece of history you have there.

you can see why pins were moved around quite a bit.
looking at the coinage they would pull in the most amount of money in the first 2 weeks then after that it would go down hill a bit and average out.

i found the same thing with my 1980 black knight, when it was moved to a new site the in first few weeks it would pull in $150 but after that it would only get around $80 (that was back in 1988)

Fascinating stuff! Quite the find there.

When the pinballs could pull in $100 - $150 or more a week (in 1987 dollars), they were certainly worth operating.

Real interesting stuff.....

Would say that the pins circa 1977 - 80 would of been taking double that

More than double - easily - especially when they changed from 10 cents to 20 cents. Mid 60s to early 70s was where most of the action occurred.
