Ebay rules
« on: November 23, 2009, 12:06:53 PM »
Seems my listing for WILD FYRE got pulled off Ebay for breaking Ebay rules.
According to Ebay.. "If Paypal is used then buyer is to pay Paypal fees" is NOT allowed, i am free to relist my item but if i include that phrase or similar i will lose Ebay priviledges, which i interpret as being booted off - what other priviledges are there?

Ive used this phrase before in my listings with no problems... looks like its time to block incoming Paypal payments again with a fake email address.

Thems the breaks i suppose... just thought id let you all know

Those are their draconian rules, but for them to enforce them it takes someone to report your listing. Try using the phrase "payment to be made via direct deposit, or cash on pick-up" This way they cant pull the listing as you havent out-rightly said "no gaypal".
If you use a fake email for paypal they can suspend your ebay account, and as your on a "warning" be careful.

They best way to "stop" people from paying with PayPus is to use the following wording:

IF YOU ARE PAYING WITH PAYPAL PLEASE ENSURE YOU INCLUDE THE INSURANCE PAYMENT WHICH IS ONLY OPTIONAL FOR BANK DEPOSIT.    THIS PAYMENT IS TO COMPLY WITH PAYPAL'S USER AGREEMENT WHICH REQUIRES ALL ITEMS ARE SHIPPED USING A METHOD THAT OFFERS FULL ONLINE TRACKING.   THIS IS NOT REQUIRED FOR BANK DEPOSIT PAYMENTS.

This is used by a close friend who is a platinum PS and has had the wording checked and approved by both eBay and PayPus.

What it does is allow you to charge EXTRA for shipping so that you can comply with PayPus requirements. When buyers see that it will cost them - say, $120 extra for full receipted delivery tracking I can assure you they will direct deposit.

PayPus sucks and the authorities should boot their arses out of Australia IMO.

Does ebay really require sellers to insure goods paid via paypal?
However to cover your arse, allways demand buyers pay for insurance.
Insurance on a pinball is probably gunna cost 200 or more.

I think GayPal requires you to be able to prove that the item was sent, therefore the easiest way is to insure it then the Post office has a record

many sellers get past the so called paypal protection policy (which aint worth a dime) by sending u an empty box/packet.

The seller then sends the tracking number to you and ebay, showing the item was sent and delivered. shame nothing was inside except cardboard.
A trick used often by hong kong sellers and some drop kicks in the states.

paypal protection is worth zilch. been there, done that, didnt like it.
but i have only been screwed 5 or 6 times out of 1200 transactions.ya win some, ya lose some.its really only the O'Seas ones which catch ya.

u cant beat ebay and its crappy rules. they want paypal so they can jack u for fees on both ends.ya cant get past it.and the fees to sell something, too dam much.
I sold a nitro truck for $120 and got stung for $12. what a ripoff. !*!

It blows  ^.^

Have had the same thing happen - of course the f*ckwits at eGay will take your cash for the first listing and for the second listing.

Damn GayPal - I took a payment for a game recently and the fees were OVER $40 just to withdraw - that is just BS.

Anybody here on AP should be looking at selling their games withing this forum - eGay and GayPal suck  ^.^

I've never bought anything off eGay, and never will... Purely due to the fact i've heard too many horror stories from others.

Im also sick of these idiots who say to me, "you  should look on ebay for this or that"... my response is usually along the lines of GET F**KED dont be F**kn STUPID!!  :lol :lol

bottom line for me is.. If i cant see it and touch it in person then i dont want to buy it! be it a pinball or anything else.

What I should clarify is that my PS mate sells high end laptops (Sony, Mac etc) and expensive cameras and lenses. These types of things are PRIME candidates for scammers using stolen/hacked PayPus/eBay accounts.

His wording usually weeds out the scammers for some reason? In any case his words are "eBay legal" and stop 90% of buyers from using PayPus and that has to be a good thing in my book!

Worth a cut-n-paste for future use if you want to discourage buyers from using PayPus BUT not get your listing pulled because some flea dobs you in.

I have had auctions pulled for saying in the auction i dont take Paypal.

Now i insert the line "My Preferred methods of payment are EFT or Cash on Pickup, please ensure you CLEARLY understand that before you bid"

I havent had anyone ask to use paypal and havent had an issue with Ebag.

:)

Aww that sux arse.

I refuse to use Paypal purely on principal. I pay Ebay a fee for selling my crap, why should i be forced to pay again to use a payment system i dont want to use.

I also understand that Australia is one of the few countries that Ebay got away with this policy, in the rest of the world, you dont have to offer Paypal. Shows how p!ssweak the ACCC is.

...Worst part of all, is that Paypal is NOT classed as a bank, so if they go broke... tough luck.

:)
