I also like to use original boards where possible just for the challenge but if its a game im planning on keeping and actually playing ill buy em new save the whole "is this going to work this time" question.     Good luck paul i wont expect a game of it though as it will be long gone before i make it to sydney again lol

Heya Paul - hope all is well with you!

Yeah, and what he didn't say was that he will be in Sydney by Monday....  &^&

Will the machine last long enough to see the new boards?  #@#

Yep...new  Mpu - Driver - Sound - speech boards

and Mpu and driver boards will take a ribbon cable to connect them...

also read in the manual that the diodes on solenoids are not required...dont need to remove them but if they fail or break ect the machine will still work as normal.

got them all here...from Kohout

I like that idea with the diodes built into the board and not required on coils

So far Ive spent around....

Machine $1200
Plastics $120
Playfields $980
Boards $700

Cab is very good for its age and original backglass looks like NEW

so should have a VERY nice black knight at the end of it all...

Dont know if I would ever get my money back but thats ok..
Dont see BK pins up for sale very often

Iam doing up a Black Knight also, not as bad a shape as yours though.
I have to keep the board set original because the owner can't afford the upgrades so Iam having the fault find the components on the boards.

Like the idea of a total new set of boards because it becomes more serviceable in future, especially the power supply.
Keep the old boards, if you decide to sell BK either swap the original boards back in or include the original boards in the sale to keep the purists happy.

Looking forward to the Playfield swap, please take heaps of pics for us to ponder.

The old boards had been totally stuffed around with and parts pulled off them...so they are all over...thats why I grabbed new boards....

Playfield ready to be swapped...
