Ebay quotes & descriptions crack me up.

"needs work as the flippers, could be a fuse or something" -   how many times have we read that? If only it was that easy. lol

"very simple design so wouldnt be hard to fix"  -   well fix it !! if its that simple. you may get a better price for a working machine.

Yep - Love those quotes - "if" it was THAT easy to fix - you would FIX the game (replace that fuse) and you could sell it as a WORKING MACHINE..

Yeah i dont think i could be that deceptive. I would just say that i have no idea on how to fix it. But i would also put on a price i'd be happy to sell it for so take it or leave it

Bloke gave me a TV to look at, adamant it was the fuse.
Unbelievably it was! Been running for six months. 
One of those rare quick fixes.

Yup me too in a past life! - power switch, fuse, my favorite was always - "maybe it's just the picture tube" - to which I would reply " you better hope not 'cause this is the picture tube" (pointing to the tube face).

I couldn't count how many 1S2's I used to sell (now I'm showing my age) because "it doesn't glow like the others" - nothing I could say would persuade them otherwise so I just used to give up and sell them one.

Same thing in the days of the VCR - The National NV300 was one of the first to use an infra-red diode for the tape end sensors. I lost count of the people that would insist on buying one because "the lamp is blown".….....I gave up trying to explain to them it was not visible to the naked eye and was very unlikely to be the fault..….

That wasn't an actual sentence used by someone? I'm guessing you made that up as an example as it does rate a little high on the "I can't believe he/she is that dumb" scale!!

the sellers could be honest and say something like this

" pinball tech who is a known local thief wanted to charge $110 to turn up, then wanted 3 or 4 hundred bux to fix it, but couldnt guarrantee repairs due to machines age, left me with a 400 buck bill and it still aint right, so i am selling it as is ".

i am sure we all know a local pinball tech who could be described as above. i certainly know a few ripoff merchants.lucky i found a few honest ones.
