Faza, how long did it take u to get the cabinet to look like that with sanding ?

what would you say would be the total time u think it will take you/have taken you to finish the sanding on the total inside of the cabinet . ?

I think it would be good to let other members know what sort of time they can also invest if they want to do the inside sanding work which is usually overlooked. thanks in advance  ^^^

Brett

Including cleaning with Nifti i would estimate 2 hours like i stated having both a half sheet and mini palm sander was great .
If you look at the earlier posted pictures you will see how filthy this cabinet was .

Not much to add spent today patching and sanding the cabinet will spend a fair bit off time getting this right before i move onto the head box.
The 3M 2 part fibreglass that Eltimbo recommended is great for repairing the damage in the leg areas .

Finally got a chance to get a bit more done i have never used a spray gun before and asked for a bit of advise of Tim at pinball tales, and as usual he was more than happy to give a few tips.
After all the patching and repairing the leg damage i was ready to spray a primer / putty, after testing the new gun on a piece of scrap i laid the first coat over both the headbox and cabinet left it for a few hours patched a couple more marks then gave it a second coat.
Must admit it was easier than i thought it would be but i am sure the final coat will be a different story any advice will be appreciated.
Any way a few pics of the cab ready for painting

Agreed..... cabinet starting to look real crisp. 95% of a good spray job is in the prep, without good prep the final product will look like crap.

Only tip i have for spraying is that it is FUN!!! So HOLD BACK!!!!!...

LOL- be it airbrushing or spraying a cab... it is fun and so tempting to just keep going... even thin coats is the way and gradually build it up.... looks like youve done that anyway

Looking very nice indeed.

Did you go with acrylic or 2K paint systems?

Marty

For the primer i used Motospray Onestep Primer/putty but i am unsure of what to use for the final coat any advice on the pros and cons of different paint would be great.

Rained the entire long weekend in Sydney  ^.^  so no painting this weekend, i did manage to give the transformer a bit of a cleanup and replaced the hacked 9 pin connector looks a hell of a lot better.
Also gave the headbox lock plate a coat of fresh paint after it had been sandblasted
New decals for cabinet arrived today and look great.
